Description Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II.

My girlfriends and I in SL and here in DA aren't being asked to fight a war like our sisters did many years ago.  They had a lot of challenges we can't imagine, in the air and in society.

Still, I think under all those bulky male flight clothes they were funny, playful, smart, talented and like us, very sexy!

Maybe even a little kinky?

Here's to them!!

Inspired by this original picture which is one of my favorites:

Thanks to my fellow "fly girls"   and who were so patient and giving of their time

Love the original and your tribute pictures. I'm appalled at how long it took our government to properly recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by these awesome women.

It was one of the great tragedies of managing people of WWII and reflected the mixed up culture of the time.  But, it was part of the process that led inevitably to where we are today.  I'm glad you liked it Jarvik!

Is it possible for ladies to look sexy in bulky, leathery World War II vintage pilot gear?   Yes, by golly, it's possible!

But the WASPS did contribute a lot to the war effort. I went aboard a vintage B-17 once, and the words "comfortable" and "easy to fly" weren't used to describe it.

Sexy is a lot about attitude and they had plenty of that SL!

All of those WWII aircraft were difficult and physically challenging to fly --I would be afraid to deal with them, despite having a few flying hours under my belt.

Rob66 [2019-06-15 13:44:58 +0000 UTC]

Very nice!!!

But raises a question for me -- when you say they were patient and giving of their time, what does that mean? Do you need all four present at the same time and, if so, how long does it take to pose and take such a shot in SL?  Thanks, Donna!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

BrendaConnolly In reply to Rob66 [2019-06-15 13:56:49 +0000 UTC]

I can answer that. Yes you do need your models present so they can get dressed, pose, make adjustments etc. It can be time consuming, a lot of SL's poses need to be manually tweaked. Also sometimes you have to shop for costumes and props on the spot if an idea hits you out of the blue. I think this shoot took about 2 hours, we wrapped up around 1AM my time. (EST)

Thanks, Brenda. That's a lot of logistics to arrange and schedule, so it's good to have reliable people for such shoots. Appreciate the quick response.

donnaDomenitzo In reply to Rob66 [2019-06-15 13:54:57 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Rob!

Yes, ideally I need all the models online and in SL and in the same location in SL to do a picture (tho its possible to photoshop someone in later if you plan ahead).

This shot took about two hours to set the scene, costume, pose, light and shoot -- and that was with me really going absolutely as fast as I could and using the minimum of props.

I'm glad you asked Rob!

Rob66 In reply to donnaDomenitzo [2019-06-15 14:48:18 +0000 UTC]

And I bet it would be a lot longer with someone less experienced and organized running the shoot. I was particularly wondering if the image could be created by doing four shots individually and then using a program like Photoshop to create a seamless final product. You answered that for me. Congrats on choreographing a wonderful picture. And thank you for answering so fast!

Amalia-Illios In reply to Rob66 [2019-06-17 18:42:47 +0000 UTC]

In the end, it always depends on how much details you want in the picture and whether you can use something pre-existing (be it outfits and/or locations) or have to create it either from scratch or available parts.

Then of course it also depends on whether you are able and willing to 'shop things (something Donna really excels at -- I'm glad if I can crop stuff to aspect )

In the end, I have rarely taken a picture that didn't take at least a couple of hours to do. But much like in real life, there is the occasional lucky snapshot, of course!

Dare I ask for a health report???  I HOPE it's all good

Funny you should mention that, since I just brushed the topic here: 4th time's the charm, right? I'm doing well enough, all things told, just getting tired of being unable to plan while there's still pending stuff. But maybe I'll get lucky this time 'round.

donnaDomenitzo In reply to Rob66 [2019-06-15 23:32:26 +0000 UTC]

Posing individually and then putting it all together in photoshop is indeed possible... It's particularly difficult in SL because there is no way to permanently stabilize the camera from picture to picture... so in each session you would have to guess at the right angle for the composition which can be tough.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Amalia-Illios In reply to donnaDomenitzo [2019-06-17 18:25:55 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's not entirely true. There are ways to set up reproducible camera positions in SL, even across multiple login sessions, involving scripted camera control. If that is something you want to explore, hit me up when I'm back from the hospital and I can whip something up for you.
