Description
This Veteran's Day we salute all the veterans who have served this great country, from the embattled farmers who stood at Lexington and Concord, to the men and women of our armed forces deployed today to Afghanistan and other hot spots around the world. Our pictures this November 11th are a special salute to the women of the WASPs (Women's Air Service Pilots) and WACs (Women's Army Corps) of World War II. Started as an auxiliary arm of the Army in 1943 with the goal of "freeing a man to fight," the women of these organizations (along with the Navy's WAVEs and the Marine Corps Women's Reserve) gave incredible service to our country and allowed hundreds of thousands of men to be released for combat duty. The WACs were finally integrated into the Regular Army in 1978 and women now serve alongside men in many occupational specialties.
Since Molly Pitcher stood on the field at Monmouth during the Revolution, women have served our country proudly, either alongside men in the line of battle or giving support from both home and abroad. So be sure to thank and honor a veteran this Veteran's Day should you meet one. Thank you, vets!

An SL Snap with a lot of Photoshop post-work.

I would rate this as one of my all time favorites. Don't ask me why because I'm not sure. Both E and my poses are heavily modified. The uniform I'm wearing is a new one mesh product with just a few additions and a little texture work. E's uniform is completely designed and textured from pieces by her. I think the composition works in both versions and I'm particularly happy with how the colors and light turned out. The jeep and airplanes etc. are all SL props.

Great Work... Have you considered something with a little more recent ambience at all?

....Elvis aside, I was always partial to the Vietnam-era 'green cord' summer uniform?

Wonderful work! 2 things; first, thank you for your homage to the women who have served this country from the beginning, and second, I very much appreciate your knowledge and your appreciation of U.S. History. In an age where so many don't even know who the Father of Our Country is, it is quite refreshing.

Doesn't seem very likely that they'd both be wearing the same nail polish.

Two beautiful examples to make the day extra memorable
But thanks for the reminder, too, on what a valuable part Allied women played in the WWII effort!
