Description
Another winter piece. I've been loving drawing winter-themed stuff, it's one of those seasons that I both love and...well...don't love. I did most of this a while ago, and then just finished it recently.Related content

The amount your art has improved over the time that I have known you has been by no small degree. Keep it up!
I wouldn't like to pin one specific thing, just to say that I really like this peice as a whole. It looks very cold to me, but has warmth. Do you find it can be quite difficult getting the depth right with such a limited palette?
(First Comment! Haven't had this in a while.)

Lol first comment kudos!!!! But really thank you so much, that actually means a ton to hear!!!
Definitely going for the cold in this one-winter/cold settings can be both so beautiful as well as deadly.
As far as the pallet went, trying to figure out color/shading and the different ways to go about that has been insane. I find there is its own beauty in simplifying colors-but yes, very difficult to get right. Blue and cyan have dominated my pallet these days!

You're very welcome.
Yes I can tell as your main page is extremely blue right now.
I've literally just noticed the title of this and I'll admit that when I first saw this pic I was seeing something different to what I am now. Thats where the 'warmth' came from, as I read it as rebirth and finding life in the dark... Now its got a death theme.
I think it doesn't tend to help that the majority of your faces appear to be smiling, from my perspective. It's something in the curve of the mouth at the end, where you draw it slightly turned up- If it is intention then well done and all, but if not then I'd just take this as some constructive critisism. I think I liked it with the veiw I had before but I guess that's just me. I like a bit of light in the dark. Art is generally subjective unless specifically stated otherwise.
Asides from my continued confusion, this is still one of the best I've seen you post.

I realized recently I never really paid attention to how anything I drew looked as a whole in the past...something I'm cramming to try to change. Hence, all the blue! I'm using sort of a 'dominant' color and working around it.
Lol it wasn't entirely my intention to make her look smiling, but I couldn't make her expression work any other way D: It kind of works though for the many things I saw it standing for. The 'light in the dark' was similar to what was on my mind when I had the idea. But really this is open to interpretation ^__^ I like that art is subjective though, it's inspirational to hear different interpretations and perspectives Thank you so much again, I've worked so hard on this so it's really good to hear!!!

I swear I replied to this comment, but apparently not.
I'm constantly vigilant and aware of how my art may be perceived, even when it hasn't been finished. I'm worried that I've missed something or drawn an extra finger by accident (totally happened) and someone will spot it. Plus there is the fact that you can't please everyone, but that doesn't stop me being concerned that I'll offend someone or something even tho I shouldn't really, but we're all very PC in Britian right now, and then you've got the internet trolls. I guess its been drummed into me that I've got to be overly wary.
One tiny line of a drawn face can change it to a kindly smile to a perverted leer, and in the wrong context that can be veiwed in quite negative light, I'm sure you'll agree. I've gone off on a tanget but I think this all also applies.
I like the blue, it works well in this context.
I can tell that you put a lot of effort into this one. It paid off.

Yeah, as far as being PC goes I too am always worried that I will offend someone just in life in general and yeah, I take that stuff seriously. But, I stand strong that I don't think art should be held to that standard. The purpose of art is not to abide by any moral code or guideline, and to do so would command a huge change in the way people utilize that expression around the world. Art is violent, characterized, flawed, both together and separate from the artist. It can be kind and friendly, or cruel and cold. Gestures that reflect real emotions and/or scenarios, however much one may or may not like what they perceive. And it is important as ever to continue to allow that trend to always continue, in my opinion ~__^ I say express away!!!
And thank you so much, I way did put an insane amount of effort into it. I started it almost a year ago and worked on it off-and-on throughout the year. Now at the start of the next winter was when I finally had it ready to post ^__^ Thanks again!!!

Yes it would almost become ... propaganda-ish, don't you think. Irony.
