Description
Because I wanted a dark background and didn't want to sacrifice my black pencil I chose for charcoal because it just lays here and I never use it. Also I can't work with it. Also I screwed up my background because of this.

Anyway, if you look really closely you'll see that in front of my beautiful background there is a small Pterosaur called Anurognathus. It's one of the smallest Pterosaurs: its wingspan was 50 cm and his body (head included) had a length of 9 cm. There are three species of this little Rhamphorynchid if I remember correcty and this is one of the few, if not the only, Pterosaur of which we have a fossil of a juvenile.

Also, we know it was fluffy, his entire body and head was covered in pycnofibers, except the tip of its snout. We also know it had whiskers around his wide, frog-like mouth. In his mouth he had small needle-like teeth, perfect for cathing insects. The edges of his wings had pycnofibers too, allowing it to fly noiseless like owls. Like I mentioned before, Anurognathus was a Rhamphorynchid, Pterosaurs characterized by their long tail. However, Anurognathus' tail was really short. Because of this he couldn't fly that fast as his cousins, but he was very agile, able to make quick turns and such.

Because it has big eyes, silent flight and these wiskers around its big mouth I was thinking about nightjars (and swifts) so why couldn't this animal be nocturnal? Here you see him flying at night through a badly coloured Late Jurassic forest, chasing a mosquito. His colouration is inspired by that of a nightjar.
