Men have problems. Women have problems. Men and women are people. People should matter equally.Now why is that so hard to understand? Feminists are quick to counter any mention of men's issues with "b-but male privilege!" As if that diminishes the severity of men's issues, including:
-high suicide rates
-low access to domestic violence shelters
-increasing numbers of high school and university dropouts
-prostate cancer
-overwhelming majority of the homeless population
-longer prison sentences
-anti-male bias in family and divorce courts
-huge majority of workplace deaths
-majority of veterans suffering from PTSD
-and much, much more.
Does "male privilege" make those problems go away? Do they not matter just because women have problems, too, which feminists deem automatically worse because 'patriarchy'? Screaming "privilege" doesn't help the veteran about to kill himself because the family courts took his children from him. Screaming "privilege" just lets feminists get away with ignoring him.
And even if privilege did negate people's problems, most of the feminists screaming 'privilege' should just shut up because they're white and have "white privilege" and black people have it worse.
Yes, I know, "intersectionality," "power politics," "oppression of women," other buzzwords yada yada yada. But feminists crashing conferences about the male suicide epidemic, shutting down shelters for men, and throwing a hissy fit when a Men and Boys focus team is proposed to address dropout rates isn't helping anyone at all.
And no, you can't just blame it on the "patriarchy."

Sometimes I like being around men better than women actually. It's not due to sexism, it's because I have social autism and girls are harder to read socially. Even if I am female.

you know, i was going to get into this and write a whole long list countering your list of male issues. first one, i didn't draft while i was halfway through, had to start over. and after writing the first counter, i couldn't help but start to feel bad. i understand that men have just as many problems as women. of course they do! we're just human beings. we make mistakes and hardly ever learn from them, we're biased as hell, etc.
you know what i found out yesterday? gender is basically a thing we've constructed in our minds simply to further clarify one's self identity. human beings have, once again, made a mistake. imagine what our world would be like without the concept of gender. there would be no men and women, there would only be humans. and animals, of course, but that's beside the point. without gender issues, we'd focus more on things that matter, like bigotry and racism, and nonconsensual sex, and people with depression and other mental illnesses like psychosis. maybe we'd be able to show people that human beings have limits and boundaries, and maybe then i'd be able to tell my parents that i don't want them to hug me and there's nothing against them because of that. there'd be no transphobia, because gender doesn't exist. there'd be no homophobia, because we'd be able to safely love whoever we want.
anyways, this has gotten way too long.
as final words, i'd like to say that i appreciate your effort in trying to make the world a better place.
