Description I made an object head cosplay of Bill Cipher for my second day at RealmsCon.  And I completely underestimated the amount of people that would recognize this character.  Like...dang, I barely walked three steps and people started asking for pictures.  I haven't done many cosplays, and the ones I've done were of characters that weren't too popular at the time, so this was a really strange situation for me...

The head and cane construction was a joint effort between me and my dad, who had all of the fancy tools to make sure the triangle head was perfectly lined up and as equilateral as possible.  I made the tailed vest, and added the neat little design on the back with some Heat n' Bond UltraHold.  Some of the squares began to peel off a little at the end of the con, so some repairs were needed, but other than that, everything worked out quite nicely.  Oh, and I made a bowtie, too!  It's there around my neck- it's just hard to see.

My original plan for the vest was to find some yellow and brown plaid to simulate the brick lines on Bill's body, but I settled on some yellow with light-brown stripes fabric, so it's still kind of the same effect, just a bit subtler and with horizontal lines only.

I couldn't see out of the eye hole too well, and I was worried about people being in my blindspots to the sides of my head, so I just went around with my triangle head lifted up a bit and peeked out around at the crowd.  I felt like a shy turtle, but at least it allowed me to avoid bumping into people.  I feel like I may have tilted my head a lot in my photos...this was unintentional- I just can't see too well with the head on, and in order to see straight ahead, I have to look at stuff at an angle.  But I guess it kind of adds to the quirkiness of the character...so no harm done.

I'm just so glad that so many people liked my costume...I met several Dippers, a few Mabels, and a Wendy, and they were all awesome.  And people kept asking me for hugs, I got high-fived,  I got called an angry illuminati dorito, and even got to hear the lovely chant of BILLBILLBILLBILL at least once.  Good times.

This is an incredible cosplay! I would like to do an object head Bill cosplay as well. How did you do the bottom of the head? Is it covered? (I'm wondering how the head is supported.)

The base of the head is open- it's just a huge square hole, so it's easy to slip on and off, and it doesn't get too stuffy in there.  Inside the triangle head, there's kind of a "helmet" I made out of felt strips that fits snugly around my own head to make it a bit more comfortable to wear and keep it in position.

Oh, wow, okay. XD I had no idea. I've been searching online, and no one made any tutorials on the object head, so thanks for clearing that up!

Aw, thanks!  I made the vest and bowtie with some patterns.  The bowtie pattern, I believe, was a free pattern found online, and the vest pattern had to be bought at a fabric store...The pants, shirt, and shoes came from various clothing stores, and the black gloves came from a Halloween costume store.

The head was made out of foam board, and the hat was made from one of those cardboard tubes found inside a roll of paper towels. The hat's rim was made out of a scrap of foam board leftover from cutting out the main head shapes.  And the hat is suspended over the head with a thick metal wire that reduced the jiggliness of the hat when moving around.

I cut out the head pieces and then painted them before gluing it all together, because the pieces started warping when I painted them on one side.  But luckily, the pieces straightened back out when I painted the other side...Any pieces that still weren't perfectly straight were placed underneath a pile of heavy books to flatten them for a day or two.

Then the pieces were glued together with a super-strong glue, like Gorilla Glue, and everything was clamped tightly for another day or so to keep things from popping off as the glue set.

And then the seams where edges were touching were filled in with a filler...I think I used Spackle for that.  Let that dry for a couple more hours, and then sand it down, and touch up areas with a bit of paint.  And then the details were painted on- the eye outline, the eyelashes, the brick lines.  After all of that's done, I used Mod Podge to seal the paint- a couple of layers of that stuff really did a good job of protecting it.  I accidentally dropped that head in a parking lot, and the paint was undamaged.

Aaaand, uhh...That's pretty much all I can remember off the top of my head about making this head.  If there's anything else you're curious about though, just ask.  ^_^

This... is... AMAZING!
I LOVE the way it's designed. Just like how I would picture Bill to look like in real life. And the detail on the back is excellently designed!
I bet this was a huge hit at the Con. Everyone loves a good well-dressed Dorito Nightmare!
