OK this pic takes a little explaining.I was looking at the possible IDD entrants and stumbled upon Slayer Slayer by Black Harpy Goddess. [link] The first thing I thought when I saw her was "Man, Joey sure would like you" Thats when I realized that there are way too many contests going on. The fabric between realities is about as solid as cotton candy. People are bound to bump into one another en-route.

I agree with AnimeGal007; you join a contest not to win but because of the feedback you get. even if no one else critiques your entry, the judges will whether you win or not. From what I've seen, you'll get an incredible review of your entry and why it won or lost, along with things to work on.
never let low confidence stop you from doing something! I mean, come on. the worst that can happen is you lose. my old martial arts teacher used to say to the people competing in his class, 'winner now, winner later', and that's what it is.
so dive in and try, cuz you stand to gain everything and lose nothing!

Well, like I said with Anime Gal, it actually has nothing at all to do with winning. It has more to do with the fact that I am actually a musician not a visual-artist (but got pulled into the craft by artist friends), and my main worry is more along the lines of not doing justice to the characters.
Still, your support is really heartwarming. I'll definitely consider entering a contest more deeply.

And don't worry about doing justice to the characters. I know that no matter how cruddy a scribble it is, I'm always overjoyed when someone else draws one of my characters X3 and you can always ask the artist, if you need feedback on how the character would act in a particular situation.

Sorry to come out of nowhere, but the whole point of joining a contest/tourny is to get better, have fun, and make new friends; not to show others up. If you seriously want to join something, then I think full well that you should give it a shot!
