Hello Marc,
College has started back up so the past week I have been so busy getting ready for my students, but it is my pleasure to comment on your image from the Melaten Cemetery.
Death is inevitable and has always been a thought-provoking subject to explore…I find it quite interesting to contemplate the family or the deceased themselves, to mark their grave with such a beautiful statue. They must have known the feelings visitors would possess. Here you have taken the angel figure and depicted in a soothing way bathed in the soft sunlight filtered through the trees. From your vantage point, you strengthen the craftsman’s creation and made your photograph. With your depiction, the wings are described and they set the figure into a comfortable pose. The figure looks to the heavens. The weathered stone with your chosen light, enhances the garment and the figure’s face… Your composition with it’s straight-forward view, adds importance to the subject.
A touching view that has a slightly sad undertone…a quite, beautiful moment…Well seen and very well done…
