Description During the retaking of Canterlot following its second occupation by the Tyranids of Hive Fleet Leviathan, the Foundation Force quickly recognized the need for a special variant of the already extremely durable Thunderbuck armor. In many engagements, ponies at the extreme edge of the front lines would often find themselves bearing the brunt of the Tyranid onslaught and unable to cope with the vast amounts of incoming damage. This was especially true during tactical building-capture and space control missions, where Thunderbuck Troopers would find themselves entering environments with little to no information on enemy composition or positioning.

Thus it was decided that a heavily armored upgrade was required, and in the year 1003, the BREACHER Variant was commissioned and supplied to a select few Thunderbuck Troopers for use in leading attacks on heavily fortified enemy positions. As a side note, the Breacher variant is informally known as the "Minotaur", due to its distinctive chestplate and shoulder plate design.

The Breacher variant is significantly more durable than the default armor, but sacrifices a great deal of speed for that additional protection. It's helmet is a special, up-armored design designated "UA-HEAVY" that reduces vision range but compensates with a short-range audio awareness package. Breacher armor also includes reinforced load-bearing systems that are down-geared to deal with the extra weight, as well as flank-mounted multipurpose "DUSTBUSTER" grenade/rocket pods that provide a wide range of effective crowd-control solutions, from flashbangs to target-knockback rockets. But by far, the Breacher variant's most definitive modification is its massively reinforced, up-armored chestplate and shoulder plates. Built from an even heavier, magically-resistant Lodestone-laced alloy and surpassing 5.5 inches in thickness at critical points, the "MINOTAUR" armor package provides defensive capabilities normally found on main battle tanks and personnel transports, allowing wearers of the Breacher armor variant to charge into even the most hostile environments with impunity.

Unfortunately, there is a price for all of this protection. The Breacher variant is the slowest of the Thunderbuck armor variations, and even with the addition of burst-capable capacitor banks that enable aggressive short-range "bullrush" maneuvering, the Breacher requires mobile or tactical support to remain viable in the field. (Not to worry, I'm working on those right now )
