Description Oceanus is the patron god of death, endings, control, fate, and ownership.  It is his duty to guard the doors to the underworld, Tartarus, and it is his job to claim each soul when its time to cross the barrier between life and death comes.  He is depicted in places where the dead are buried, and above doorways and in secure rooms, as it is believed that he is also the god of protection and defense.  The souls of all mortal ponies belong inevitably to him, but he is a fair and just guardian.  His signature weapon is his massive axe, Crucius, Axe of Damnation.

Gosh this one took ages.  The other two gods are forthcoming.

Guardian God of the Afterlife.

Makes him sound like some sort of epic guardian deity.

I approve.

Oh yes, now we're talking.

Granted, I wonder why all the Alicorns protrayed seems a bit proportionally stunted...

Because I don't have enough room in the art format to give them super long legs.  Also, armor.

Ah, well, I suppose that explains it.

Ever consider redoing them one day with better art formats?

Maybe you can sacrifice landscape for figure by doing vertical paintings - more room for longer legs and necks.

See, that's what I want to do, but because this artwork is being created for use on custom Magic: the Gathering cards, I have to fit as much content as possible into the card format's 2 inch x 1.5 inch art space, which means that [A] I can't change the proportions of my canvas, and [B] I have to make everything as bold and "biggish" as possible, which leads to a slightly... chunkier pony design.  Oh well.  I always thought it looked damn good anyway.

Well, if it works, then it's good.
