Description
Keris is the patron god of fire, creativity, destruction, change, craftsmanship, and civilization (but mostly fire). It was she who gave the gift of fire to the ponies of Equestria, and it was she who quietly guided the development of Equestrian civilization. Keris is without a doubt the most inventive of the Five, and is revered by craftsmen, artists, and any and all whose calling is to create. Her image can be found in any place of work, from the smallest carpenter's shop to the largest forge. Her signature tool is Vaelek, Hammer of Genius, with which she happily goes about turning mountains into cities and back again.

Keris: "Now let's see....some temples here, a barracks there--Oh! Let's try the marble columns!--and now for some granite for the main palace!" [Raises Vaelek into the air and prepares to strike the ground with godlike force] "Heh-heh, I always love whipping up a new city! That mountain range was so bland, anyway; all those lovely ore deposits going unused, and those poor refugees from that nasty war down in the valley. Not anymore! Time for a fresh start!"
[Humming a cheery tune, the red goddess set to work raising a new metropolis for a flock of mortals she's come to care for. As a being of creation and renewal, Keris couldn't bare to let them wander aimlessly from destruction by some silly war. And such a variety, too: Ponies of all kinds, Griffons, Minotaurs; even a few Changelings! All willing to live and work together in one city...Keris couldn't help but giggle at the thought of what they could create!
And having them all but guaranteed to have HER as their city's patron goddess wasn't too bad, either...]

Is it coincidence this reminds me of Purphoros from MTG's Theros block?

No it is not a coincidence. I'm in the process of creating an MLP-based MTG block called Nightfall in Equestria , which takes a couple of minor design points from Theros -- the first and most obvious being the pantheon of Gods.
Now I'm trying as hard as I can to come up with original content for Nightfall, and as such my gods are slightly different from the Theros gods. Whereas in Theros the gods Heliod, Thassa, Erebos, Purphoros, and Nylea represent the Sun, the Sea, the Dead, the Forge, and the Hunt, my cycle of gods (Lauren , Titan , Oceanus , Keris, and Harmony) represent more general concepts -- Reality, Order, Death, Change, and Nature.
At any rate I thought the whole cycle-of-gods thing, as a general concept, was too good to pass up.

In fact, a lot of your text is off... and some of your technical choices are questionable. For example, why are your zebras ponies as well? Zebras are stated in pony lore to be a completley different race all together.

I chose to include both Zebras and Bat Ponies as "Pony" tribes for design reasons. First off, in Nightfall, "Pony" is less of a specific species denominator and more of a way to indicate that a creature comes from, and can only be found in, Equestria. For instance, I also have Illusion Pony and Golem Pony creatures. Second, I needed a way to target all five of the main races either individually or as a whole. Third, it is generally accepted that Zebras and "regular" Ponies can successfully have fertile children together, which means that regardless of racial biases, the two "species" are actually close enough to biologically be considered a single species.
I'm also interested in what you mean by "a lot of my text is off". Can you be more specific? I welcome any and all design input, because my only goal is to make Nightfall better.
