Both she and the Mother Longlegs from Skull Island (based on the spider-crap from 1933's "Lost Spider Pit Sequence") are the most unique spider-like creature designs to date and both really stand out.

It's a good movie and a really fun one, but it's best not to make comparisons and just view it as its own thing and for what it is. It's not the traditional classic Kong you're probably used to, this is Kaiju Kong and the movie does something new and different with him, and of course it's the very one that will fight Godzilla next year.

Now this looks like something straight out of HP Lovecraft, and that's something I never say. Not only that, what already makes her (aside from the Mother Longlegs) so unique from the rest of the usual generic spider designs (cough*Kumonga*cough) is the fact that she's actually a giant ammonite with spider legs. A simple combination and yet so effective.
