Description
PRESS DOWNLOAD FOR FULL SIZE AND READABLE TEXTAfter almost two years, I've finally completed a new reference sheet for Orion C:
It took nearly 9 months from the first sketches to the final product and during that time nearly everything has been changed *phew*
I decided to include most of his backstory in the ref, so the text it pretty minimal if you want to read it without pressing 'Download'.
I've made some major changes to his backstory as well. I wanted him to be someone who is easier to identify with than what the previous backstory made him seem like. The character itself has always been the most important to me, since I created him to cope with my grandfather's death.
I never knew him as close as I would've wanted to , and it always seemed to me like he had so much greatness hidden inside him. When he died, the story of a whole life was lost and no-one could ever know all what he had been through and felt. Then I decided to create a character who could do all that for me, someone who would have understood him and who would always remember.
many thanks to for helping me so much with his anatomy! ;3; <3 If it wasn't for you, he would still have had a very skinny chest, and faily wings and whatnot c:
C: Also thanks to my friend~Majk123 for being the reference mannequin next to Orion, and I'll also give credit to since I referenced pectoral scales from her!

This is amazing! Such a great story as well as drawing! I love how you show us how tall your dragons would be compared to humans. Of all the dragon art I've seen yours is so realistic that I don't understand why dragons don't exist!!!

Oh my god. My GOD. This OC is so brilliant, that it's left me in complete awe. There's something to be said of an author who can actually change the way their reader perceives something outside of their writing (i.e. the Orion constellation). And you've done just that, because I know I'll never be able to see those stars without thinking of -this- character. So brilliant! So well thought out and unique and absolutely stunning to behold. I think this is the first OC I've ever added to my favourites. It's of a fantastic character who has the good fortune of being the creation of an excellent artist. I definitely have to go snoop around more of your gallery now. <3

First of all, I'm sorry for not replying to this comment sooner ;; When I first got it, I was so jawdropped that I couldn't think up anything that could match it in awesomeness, and then our web connection stopped working for 3 weeks xD
but here goes: Thank you so much for this amazing comment! I'm glad I've managed to change someoneΒ΄s view of something just like that C: (the same thing happened to me when I first concieved the character xD) All of my characters are from the same story, and I'm trying to flesh out their universe as much as I can before turning it into a comic This comment has motivated me so much!

Haha. Don't worry about the delay. I'm honoured to even get a comment back, always. On the rare occasion I take the time to write out a comment of that length, I -sincerely- appreciate it when I'm replied to. Makes me smile. :3
Yes, you've definitely changed my view of the stars (that sounds so epic)! A couple weekends ago, I went with some friends on an annual trip into the Oregon wilderness to camp. There's a bridge we walked to with a completely unhindered view of the night sky. No light pollution. Clear sky. Billions of stars (shooting stars too, several <3). We could see a handful of constellations, far more than in the city. Orion was definitely one of them. In that moment with all that beauty surrounding me, I flashed back to Orion's design. Amazing. Later that night, with the aid of some special mushrooms, I half believed I saw a dragon up there, in space. Great night, and your art influenced it greatly.
It's crazy to think, isn't it? That someone you've never met who stumbled across a piece of your art -once- and because of it, they saw a dragon in the stars on one of the most magical nights they've ever experienced. That really says something about the impact artists have. And most of the time, they never know about it. I would be STOKED to check out that comment as soon as it's underway!

Gah! How did I miss this in my inbox?
This is a gorgeous ref! It's nice and simple, and the illustrations are really well done. The backstory is also really touching, as well as the context of his creation.

thanks! I'm glad you think so :3 I was worried that it'd be cluttered if it had more illustrations
wow, thank you very much <3 I get so happy when people tell me they like his story! It's the important part to me

wow, I'm glad I've inspired you :,D Thank you so much <3 I've really worked to develop him since I made the first ref sheet, so he's barely the same character anymore. I hadn't looked at the old one in ages before a few weeks ago, when I went through my gallery and found it, going: "wow, I could barely remember that he used to look like that!" xD
Do it do it do it cB I've missed seeing your art, and ref sheets are an excellent way to push your limits c:

He is really good looking dragon.
Anatomy is right.
Color is deep which means about his big soul and mind.(Purple and blue - colors of souls and thoughts.)
Mystical creature. Very powerful.
Very good work. I like your character.

yeah, the blue marks are stars, but you're not too far away when saying that the yellow feather-tips could, as well! C: They're supposed to represent the fire of a sun

You're welcome.
Yes... This colors are right. I like them both too.
You're welcome again. You are really good artist.
I understand. I'm so sorry for your grandfather. Even time isn't eternal.
This type of dragons really interesting. Feathers makes them grand and noble.
Muzzle looks really interesting. As I already said.... colors are deep. Yellow on tips of feathers can mean stars. Yellow and purple are always harmonized between themself.
How many years are you an artist?
Sorry if I made mistakes... My english isn't excellent. And for full understanding of your character I need time for reading your ref. ^..^; Your character are interesting.

thanks c:
I used to draw a lot from when I was 6 to when I was 13 years old, but I only dooded and never really thought about making it look good, and then I stopped drawing.
I started drawing seriously about 2 years ago, and it turned into my biggest interest once again. After that, I've constantly strived to improve my art :3 no problem, and thanks again!

And I still too lazy for fast submissions.>3
Hope you'll continue to develop your skills in drawing.
And as I see... you really love dragons? Just like me.XD
