Like, Batman may be potrayed as emotionless, but everybody knows you have to feel SOMETHING in order to love someone. I don't know Batman's canon love interest (can't remember her name...) but he does have FEELINGS, even if he doesn't, like, show 'em all that much.
And who says a gay dude can't be a total terrifying person? Besides, the bad guys wouldn't have to know, unless they're that sneaky/nosy enough, or trying to get leverage. And besides, Batman wouldn't let any of them get the drop on him. Dude's got, like, eyes and intel EVERYWHERE in Gotham!

One thing's for sure. Batman is who would help no matter who, because their eyes there is no difference. Only good people, and crime that should be extinct. It is not easy to see parents being killed in front of you. He is more than a hero, he did not buy what the system by bureaucracy and corruption, turns around, he acts, he did not expect. For persons born outside there and need to be a city with good example.
