While Alex is by far better in every way xD I did quite enjoy the scenes with Heller. They were funny. I hated that they made Mercer bad.

Question: How was Mercer good? Don't get me wrong. Mercer was awesome. But he never exactly came off as the 'good guy' in Prototype 1. He did decide to unleash a virus and risk infecting an entire city, leading to the death of millions, over surrendering where the only life lost would have been his own. He was working with his sister, so it wasn't like stopping Gentek and Blackwatch would have stopped with him dead.Β

Well, you are talking about the 'real' Alex Mercer, but the dude we played in the game was about as much the real Alex as a clone can be, since technically the guy we played as was the Virus in his skin, isn't he?
At least he tried to tidy up the mess the real Alex made

Given the way the story is told in the game, I hardly see a difference between 'Real' Mercer and 'Virus' Mercer. Sure, they did the whole amnesia thing, but Virus Mercer didn't learn what the Real Mercer did and decide to fix everything and make it right; he just decided he wanted to be the top of the food chain.Β
How I see it, it's the same kind of thing with 'Anakin Skywalker' and 'Darth Vader': it doesn't matter what you call him, he still murdered a bunch of little kids.Β

Except for the memories of Greene and Randall who you get in the main game- at least at that point I would have been curious as to 'What's that with that baby?!'
But, be honest. Do you play Prototype because of the story? I play it mostly just to run around and kill people- and in that case P2 is said to be better.
Though I guess they just didn't invest into making a real character. Possibly didn't wanted to make such an effort since the other games- Infamous and Assassin's Creed were a lot more popular and they probably just threw up their hands and went 'Fuck it'.

Like really, I beat him in like under 4 minutes....
They should have add his mussel mass and Armor to make it a bit challenging, maybe add one of his devastator attacks go off if you dont kill him in x-mount of time.
But hey, what do you expect from a prequel with a lame new character. Β

I think is was a mistake what they did with Alex in prototype 2, his fate should've either been left ambiguous or he should've been helping Heller deal with his power and goals in some way (powers acquired through different means than just 'mercer infected him')
And the villain should've also been someone else (not PARIAH, that seems too easy)

The way I see it the reason why Mercer lost is because he had nothing to fight for no motivation or cause except finding out who he was and keeping people at a distance which is the reason why he had a blank stoic face and no emotion whatsoever and never letting get close to him whereas Heller on the other hand had a cause which was finding and saving his daughter Maya and avenging his wife Colette also with having emotions and letting people get close to him making more human than Mercer ever was as a scientist and as a virus. The way the writers wrote the first game really fucked up big time with Alex making come more as a villain rather than a full fledged anti-hero that James seems to fit better cause he cares about innocent people. If Alex does come back it has to be from scratch and one with a sense of morals and human guidelines but without all of his powers and protecting innocent people from criminal scumbags and crime organizations and a new virus that makes him an anti-hero full force along with making look like a badass character but having no memory of his past and not the fucked up emo shit stain in P1 or the piece of shit megalomaniac in P2.

I personally think Heller is way cooler. Alex is your typical grimdark, "misunderstood" anti-hero. That's been done before and is nothing different. Meanwhile Heller has such a more hard-ass disposition and is so angry all the time. His character is more believable and bad-ass.
