The eagle's eyes widened as he watched his one-armed brother sink to his knees on the ground.
"!" He cried out his name, though neither of them could hear over the ringing of blades swinging and slashing in battle between assassins and templars alike. Amid it all, it had begun to rain.
The eagle; true to his name, practically flew through the battlefield to his brother's side. The eagle gently wrapped a protective arm around the other darker-haired man's shoulders; and knelt to his side, feeling a sense of desperation well up inside of him.
"Malik!? Malik, what happened??" The eagle inquired urgently. Malik's face was contorted in agony, the precious red life liquid slowly leaving his body in the slowest manner possible.
"A-Altaïr?" He rasped, having difficulty breathing. It hurt; it stung; and honestly if he was going to compare it to the torture he went through when he lost his arm... Well, both experiences came pretty close.
"Malik! What happened??" Altaïr asked again. Though one wouldn't be able to see it; beneath the cowl, his dark eyebrows drew close together in concern and worry.
Malik didn't say anything and fought back a moan as a wave of pain shot through him. Instead he only leaned into Altaïr, his single arm struggling to support his body. He panted a little, feeling his eyes start to slide closed.
"Malik, stay awake! Please!" Altaïr pleaded in a soft; urgent tone.
They were in their own little world now; the eagle and his brother. Neither knew of the templars and assassins fighting for their own cause. They only knew how much it hurt; to watch his brother in so much pain, and to feel this white-hot agony course through his body.
Altaïr's slight fear increased to something like panic when he noticed the small river of blood starting to run by him.
"I'm fine... Novice..." Malik managed to stutter through the hurt.
"Come on Malik, just hang on until we get to the bureau!" Altaïr pleaded again, trying to pull the injured man to his feet. Malik didn't move, instead letting out a distressed gasp when his injury was made slightly worse. Hearing his brothers discomfort, he immediately; and gently, set him back down.
"Find out what... Th-those damned t-templars... W-want..." Malik gasped to Altaïr.
However,
Altaïr was lost, confused. What was going on? How had Malik gotten hurt? Why was he speaking as though he would die?
And it all came back when he looked back at Malik.
The one armed assassin, fighting to stay alive.
The templar sneaking up behind him.
Altaïr, too caught up in his own battle to warn him in time.
The enemy's sword sliding through Malik's back, slipping right back out.
The templar sneaking away.
Malik, his face a mixture of torment and surprise.
Altaïr, screaming his name over the dozens of other assassins and templars.
A strange warm feeling came to Altaïr's eyes. For once, he was grateful for the rain.
"No, we'll learn together. We'll figure out what it is we're REALLY fighting for. Together." He spoke clearly, putting emphasis on the together. Malik frowned.
"Yes, you still have... the mind of a novice."
"Defeat them Altaïr..." The dark haired man smiled a bit.
"At least I may get to see my brother again..."
Altaïr felt crushing feelings resurface as he recalled Kadar's death.
"I'm sorry Malik...." He said softly. Malik only shook his head.
"I forgave you... A... L-long time.... Ago..." Malik trailed off, feeling his body getting weaker and weaker. By this point, he was completely relying on Altaïr to hold him up and support him.
"... I promise; if not only for Kadar, then for you as well; that I will defeat Robert de Sable."
Malik didn't respond, unmoving.
And the eagle released an anguished yell to the heavens.
Sorry if it's terrible, first time I've ever written anything to do with Assassin's Creed. ;-;

That is a nice picture! Even though the painting in it self is quite simple, you still get the feeling of a story going on.
