Description
Well it's about time for another model so here's the only one that's finished, a big... (slightly fugly) thing. I'd like to point out right from the start that this is designed to a fictional loading gauge that can take locos as tall as the US has but on much heavier built track (40t axel loads are the norm, hence its hugeness on just 6 axels). This is just a small part of a much, much larger project that is in the works at the moment, details will be revealed later when I get more of it worked out. But, onto the loco!
It's a bit of a mashup of a Russian TΠ10 upload.wikimedia.org/wikipediaβ¦ and a generic American big thing like GE and EMD are producing at the moment with a small amount of Australian (Pilbara iron ore railways) influence too. Inside it has a 7,875hp EMD 20-265H engine (again, entirely fictional, they only ever made a 12 and 16 cylinder version of the H engine, I don't think a 20 cylinder version was even considered). I was mainly trying out different styles of design, the large flared radiators and the 'dent' for the air intake and the dynamic brake grids.
It is designed to be bidirectional even though there's no way to see out of the cab. The drivers rely on a large LCD panel on the back wall of the cab with a live feed from a pair of cameras mounted under the radiators to see where they're going, a sort of psuedo window if you will. All windows and camera lenses are fitted with a 'lotus leaf' layer to disperse the water from them instead of relying on traditional wipers to do the job. I tried putting in some more modern tech type things into this as an experiment, though they're not really my strong point.
Anyway, that's enough rambling from me so let me know what you think of it (even if it's intentionally a little ugly)! I'm interested to know others opinions ^.=.^
Other pics of this thing, as usual, can be found here:

XD you totally should've posted it as "The Fugly," but I didn't even know lotus leaf stuff was a thing. I want it on my glasses. Also, you are very good at doing the all the detail thing here, dang. Like, dang

Believe me, I was almost going to XD
I believe you can get a spray on aerosol form of it now, or at least one is in development. Give your glasses a good clean and a spray inside and out of it if you can get your hands on some and hope it doesn't ruin them ^.=.^ (I think it's a clear coat too so it should be safe)
And lastly, thanks, though there's still room for improvement as usual

Your welcome!
My favorite Australian diesel locomotive is the CLP can you make a C-C version with a B unit and passenger car diaphragms?

I've been tempted to make a streamlined A/B unit thing sometimes and I have made a (badly modelled) bullog cab, I could have a go sometime I guess
Also, one company who got half of the CLP fleet is getting rid of them and there's been some South American parties interested in having them exported unfortunately. Though you may get some closer to your part of the world if they do indeed go overseas, including the last bulldog cab loco ever built anywhere in the world, CLP10 (Ex CL17).

I would love to see a SDP40F with a bulldog cab portholes and passenger car diaphragms with a b unit.Β
Yes that's sad!
I wish I was rich enough to buy them. I would run half of them on train excursions in Australia and take the other half home to do the same for a few years until I could find or build suitable replacements. It would be the same railroad on two continents same name same train.

Well if you can pull up the $200k - $380k asking price each has and rebuild the couple that have been stripped for spare parts then they're all yours so long as you export them (they're NOT for domestic resale unfortunately... gotta' love it when business politics get into trains right?). I wouldn't mind seeing some hooked up to SD40's and such though. I kind of hope that one day they make their way north up to the US if they do get exported to south America, one can dream XD
