Description
Transformers WERE actually created by a Spaghetti Monster!One thing I always found fascinating about Transformers was the theology of it. But something I've found even more fascinating was the debate on the theology of it. Mostly surrounding the origins of your favorite transforming robots.
First we are told about the Quintessons, and how Cybertron was a giant factory to manufacture robots. Then Furman would add an almost religious tone to the mythos with the addition of a Spark and the story of Primus and Unicron.
I personally prefer the Quints idea. It just makes more sense, giving the Transformers a chance to evolve from humble beginnings and bring themselves up to the point where they are now. Also, having the Autobots be consumer goods and the Cons military hardware makes more sense in the grand scheme of things because rather than have a grand creator make them all first and then they magically choose sides, you are giving them a core programing, or a "nature" that they simply can't escape by mere choice, which can justify a war that spans millions of years.
Of course, this is only my opinion, and I'm sure many of you out there will chime in with your 2ยข, making this debate even more fascinating. After all, this is cartoon religion . Ahh the ridiculousness of it.
As for the piece itself, I always wanted to do a twist in Michelangelo's birth of Man piece illustrating the Quints in the Godly position. I did the piece in rendered pencil first, adding color through Photoshop thinking it'd be easier. I guess it was, after I got used to the whole mess. By the way, for as much as I hated the Quints when I was a kid, they sure were fun to draw. So how about bringing them back IDW... And bring on the Sharkticons while you're at it.
Anyways... enjoy!

Yeah, this is cool, but it should so be Alfa Trion up there, not The Quints. Awe, well... still awesome!

Well, Alpha Trion is Prime's daddy. But in this instance it's "God" that's represented in this painting.

Not really 'daddy' more, 'i saved your spirit and put it in a new body and thus you were reborn as Optimus Prime' I guess. I do see where you are coming from though...

What a interpretation of the birth of the Transformers and artwork and colours is really well done. Excellent idea!

Such an awsome epic pic! Beutifuly drawn and coloured! instant fave!
i have to agree with you on the whole Quint creators and Cybertronian core programing. That they were the Quintessons creations and slaves. had a very epic feel, almost like 'let my people go!' slave struggle, kinda thing and feel. if you get what i'm saying... just reminds me of the opening of the Prince of eygpt movie
I also find it some what touching that the insignia of both groups were thier slave identifacation. i wear my autobot belt with a little more pride. i've become such a avid lover of the history. determind to lurn everything i can!

Yeah, That's what I think too. I mean, if the "Children of Primus" were born with no association and get recruited by their own choices, or even had the freedom of will to simply chose to not fight anymore then this war wouldn't have lasted MILLIONS of years!!! I mean come on!!! Something's gotta tell you that they can't exactly switch it off, and the Quints origin kinda lets you know why.

You could also argue that when the Quints invaded Cybertron (another canon theory) they somehow "brainwashed" the Transformers into doing their bidding. They are deceptive and the minions of Unicron.
Either way the Quints were involved. I prefer the Primus version myself but like what you've done here.

I have an idea... The Quintessons built the Transformers by reverse-engineering the dead ones made by Primus. Now that I have compromised, everyone is happy.

Y'know in my head i had this really long drawn out theory in my head (but it was in the Micheal Bay'formers universe) which allowed the existence of The Quintessons, Primus and Unicron AND The quints were still technically the creators of the Transformers, i should write it down!

It's me again! You're very interesting to me and I really dig your artwork. I really like how you did Optimus and the Quintison. If they renovate the Sistine Chapel, would you redo every picture with Transformers?
You do hane a point about the Sharkticons. I miss them, too. Btw, I loved your Optimus Prime so much I hung it up onmy wall

Hahaha, awesome concept! And you make a good point - but there are so many different little takes now, it can get a bit ridiculous but, well, I guess that is just how these things work. Some stick with the canon, whichever one they choose, or just play with it a bit for their own ideas. Either way, it's neat to see just how much fantasy and religious aspects the bring into this for their creation, and this is a good nod in one of those directions.
Loves the image so very very much, at any rate!

Haw-haw, clever! >3
The Quintesson explanation does make more sense, overall, given the the themes and elements of the Autobots and Decepticons, I agree.
Ugh....I really, really despise Simon Furman, and he should never be allowed to even look at a Transformer ever again. I have no idea how he developed such a fan base, or how he...continues to get work. 'Primus'? I mean....really? I think it's fine for the Transformers to have some kind of metaphysical element to them, given that they're living machines, and they have the Matrix already. But the garbage that Furman helped create....It can be done better than that. >.>;
But that's another thing; I think that Transformers are 'dead' in regards to a proper handling, anymore. People simply...just cannot and will not do it. The movies are complete garbage, and comics, well, hardly any better. People just keep doing retarded things with Transformers anymore. Also, EVERYONE wants their own version of Transformers, and people keep starting all over with their origins and early days. Shit, the upcoming new game, War For Cybertron, they claim is about 'explaining their origins'. So, you mean, again. It's been done already because people don't STOP doing it. And on top of that, there's an upcoming book that also is supposed to tell all about the 'REAL' origin of the Transformers.
Again. There is no longer a unified continuity.
Sigh. I just have no faith that anyone will give them the respect they deserve anymore. It disappoints me.

LOL!!! Indeed.
Well, if anything this shows that even the powers that be are aware of this fact and are just as tired as you. But I think it can be done. This is no different than what happened to the golden age DC universe, all the earths, all the dimensions, all the same heroes from different worlds, conflicting continuities and ridiculous plot lines gave way for them to create the Crisis mini series and they wiped the slate clean. Batman became the dark knight, Wonder Woman became a Greek amazon with an origin that didn't make you say WTF, and all the other heroes and villains ended up with a cleaner more concise canon. Granted, they keep going back every once in a while and play with the Crisis thing, but the point is that it can be done. If Hasbro and Takara get together and decide on a unified canon, and STICK with it, then I have no problem following it. But for Gods sake, make it GOOD!!!! After all, that's why there are so many G-1 purists to this day, because the stories were GREAT!!! Not perfect mind you, but at least they were fun! and that's something Transformers hasn't been since Animated... FUN!!!! And you know why Furman sucks?!?!? Because he's no FUN!!!! He turned Transformers into this pretentious sudo-theological book that ended up taking itself too seriously. And after playing WfC, i gotta say I LOVE IT!!! It was fun, and even though Frank Welker and Chriss Latta weren't involved, I still felt like it was Megatron and Starscream talking. I can honestly say they got it right!!! And thus, it was fun!!! And that's good enough for me!!
I just hope they keep the momentum going, take away the property from Michael fucking Bay and give it to someone who will respect the property and the fan base, because it CAN be done... look at what they did with the Batman franchise and that Marvel is doing with their characters. What are you waiting for Hasbro... Don't bite the hand that's fed you for the last 30 years!!!

Ugh, the DC Universe is so fucked up even to this day that it's really not even funny....It's been raped so many times...But that's another story.
...Actually I didn't like....'Animated'. First of all, the name choice confused me, because it sounded like the property...had..never been animated before. And, uh, it's no secret that that isn't so. So. What, they...couldn't come up with a better name? Secondly, I honestly thought it was just all-around terrible. The art is dreadful. Seriously, whoever thought that Transformers should look like...the Teen Titans show should have been immediately fired (unfortunately, that probably didn't happen). the humor is....even WORSE than the terrible jokes the 1980's show EVER made, and it just....I felt was just not Transformers at all. I didn't watch a lot of that show, but well, I saw all I needed to see, and...it was really was depressing.
Egh, from what I understand, Furman also keeps recycling old, and also stupid, ideas Transformers have already done; like Shockwave and the Dinobots on primitive Earth, for example (or a primitive piece of Earth, in Marvel's case, anyway). And of course....Sigh...'Primus'. No. Just....no. 'Oh, but those are just homages!' Don't care, don't care, don't care.
But I just think...he's a terrible writer, and certainly has no business ever touching Transformers ever again. Sigh...
I'd kind of like to play WfC, but don't have the means to do so. I do have a Wii, but, uh...apparently the Wii game, which is also different from the original game....uh, sucks. So, I'll pass. >.>;
I also hope that someone will eventually give the property the respect it deserves. Unfortunately, I'm just...not VERY hopeful that it will happen. After all this time, and so much shit that keeps being produced, it just seems unlikely. -__-;
