Description
After Talk Like a Pirate Day I noted that I have gotten rusty with my gun designs. This is an effort to correct my futuristic weaponry. Sorry no cute girls or x-guys in this one.
First up is coil-gun, or an Electro-Mag: It fires ferro-ceramic darts through a series of circular electromagnets. The darts have clockwise grooves along the length to add a spin and increase stability. the back of the gun is a small swappable power-cell for the magnets, the darts are in a magazine in the handle
The Second is a Plasma pistol (about the size of a Uzi): Since it fired air compressed and heated to the point of plasma, it is of limited use in a vacuum. The odd things sticking out of the back are actually gas canisters that allow limited shots in a vacuum. (there are two taped together with electrical tape) What looks like a magazine is a heavy-duty power-cell.
Goop Gun: it has a Drum Magazine. Designed for capturing fugitives without endangering civilians.
Laser pistol: Lasers are interesting things their Damage is = to the power fed to them. Uses a swappable battery cartridge in the handle.
Sorry if this one is boring.

Yep, it's a ncie touch, old-school ingenuity to match the high-tech.

The heavy duty power-cell could also be like that.
What can I say, One thing that George Lucas did for SciFi is the "Used Universe" look.
before most SciFi movies had pristine sets.

BTW those canisters are like CO2 blowers for indoor AC lines. One shot per canister. That is why most use those things in an atmosphere.
Ship level plasma weapons use Microwaved Argon Plasma much like their real-space engines. only in a more concentrated form. (there are many course corrections in a battle)
Ship Level Lasers are usually tasked with precision work and for disabling the Shields (which are magnetically based)
While Coil guns are likely anti-star-fighter with the big Cousin the rail gun being anti-ship as well.
