Y'know, this could give a very interesting take on why the Separatists disappeared so quickly in Star Wars after the rise of the Empire. Former separatists needing a new life pay a ton of cash to get cloned into a new body, possibly even a new species?
Although it could work in any sufficiently-advanced sci-fi setting.
