I've heard that New Jersey's always been nice outside of the industrial estates. Its namesake over here's always been pretty pleasant though.
"OK, you'll need to take another dose.", crackled the voice through the radio.
Chris, complied, removing a capsule from a blister pack and swallowing it before continuing to trudge through the damp. After a few moments, she felt a familiar sensation as the nanites within were released and sighed a surprisingly deep sigh.
"Progress Report?", crackled the voice again.
Chris sighed again, this one was much higher pitched and feminine than the last but she remained unfazed by the change.
"Proceeding as planned. Side effects within acceptable limits.", Chris replied.
"Excellent, proceed to the second rendezvous point. You'll be provided with a new set of clothes. Remember to continue taking the medicapsules at regular intervals, the consequences of forgetting will be a lot harder to reverse than the side effects.", and with that the radio fell silent.
Chris sighed again before hunching slightly to fit into a tunnel, which made her realise that her chest had expanded into a pair of C cups.
"Well at least they'll hold my jersey on", she murmured to herself before pulling the increasingly baggy sleeves up a little higher.
Realising her hair was beginning to grow long enough the get in her eyes now, she hoped the change of clothes would include a hat, or at least something to tie in back with. In any case Chris could only wonder what lay ahead that could justify rushing them out before they could secure medical supplies which were compatible with the whole unit.
"...at least I won't have to worry about being the only guy on the team this time." she added to herself before swallowing another capsule.

I wanted to go for one of those "leave it up to the reader" things. The general idea (which I've tried to imply) is that he's a male member of a mainly female military unit, the medication is some sort of nanite which works differently in males to females. Because of short notice they only have "female" medication available (possibly because he forgot to call quartermaster...that Saturday ), which will slowly (but reversibly) turn him into a woman as he uses it (the rest of his team having been informed and have some better fitting clothes for him issued, hence why he's still in civilian attire; there was no point in dragging along some actually equipment/armour that he wouldn't be able to use anyway).
If you want an explanation (I'm about to make up the specifics as I go along here ), assume that he's taking it to prevent a virus from mutating him. The nanites work by constantly rebuilding the subject's body to remove the mutations as they occur based on a general template for their species (there are varieties given to pets and livestock...) since the nanites are not sophisticated enough to detect more than a few genetic markers (essentially they are pre programmed with whatever the creature they're designed for and only look at the parts that make the subject "unique" within their species). Human gender dimorphism is such (since the nanites can't physically detect gender and one's genetic gender is controlled by the presence or absence of the Y gene, so it was easier to make seperate batches for each sex than make a nanite which can distinguish) that there has to be separate templates for males and females. As a result he's being mutated by the virus (which is present in the environment and infecting his cells) and must take the capsules every so often to reverse the mutations. Every time he does this, any infected tissue is rebuilt as a female version of him, thus the eventual gender change. It's considered an acceptable compromise since the same technology (using more advanced nanites, the ones hes taking now are sort of field medication, which is obviously less effective) can automatically detect his genetic gender and fix it, but a terminal mutation from the virus would be incurable (it would essentially turn massive clumps of his body into tumours and kill him quickly).

Probably a bad idea, considering she'll be responsible for equiping him for his next mission too (and probably has enough influence to decide what it is at least once)...

True, but if he still hasn't been forgiven for failing to call then she might just decide it was him anyway.

Jack frowned as he tried to find his way through the maze-like tunnels under campus. 'Freshman Initiation' his ass, he grumbled under his breath. He still had no clue what that weird glowing design he had found earlier was, but at least that weird tingling feeling he got when he touched it was gone now. Still, something seemed off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"The deadliest game?" no, no;"The sexiest game"! Trap 1 TG's, trap 2 bimbofies, trap 3 kills. "All who survive may leave" or maybe do it death race style "pass through x times and win freedom".

Mmm, maybe someone that turned the tables on the puppet-master, and/or is still working her way through the laberinthe... trying to avoid the remaining traps.
