also looking back maybe toriyama isn't as bad as thought on the whole "mom'd" thing.
I think bulma and 18 avoided it for the most part.
yeah bulma was a lot more active in dragonball but she didn't have responsibilities then. But even later on after she settled down with vegeta I feel she was still integral to every plot development not fighting but planning or in some other way.
Even though trunks went back the real hero and one with the plan was bulma, and she saved goku's life so he could train gohan.
& in GT she's the one that came up with the way for vegeta to reach ssj4.Β I also doubt bulma does any cooking or cleaning she's got money and robots for that.
18 was powerful but fought out of boredom and she was borderline evil. She always preferred shopping though, and I doubt she'd care enough to fight unless personally involved as seen in GT.
...and videl, well I guess you could say she got "mom'd" but then gohan did too so idk they both kind of gave up fighting.
But ChiChi, is the worst, its almost like a running gag at this point I swear they ruin her character more with each reboot.
I already hated super but my god chi-chi doesn't even have character traits anymore other than makes food and nag-screams constantly.

"Mom'd" is it? You put a word to a trend that's been bothering the piss out of me for over 5 years! And I don't follow DB at all, but I can tell you it occurs occasionally elsewhere in Japanese media (and Western, too, to be fair). Thank you very much for that. It also especially bothers me when the victims of MOM are "preordained" to bear the next generation protagonists (usually male, or given a 'less important' younger sister) Two very disparate examples are Terminator and the sequel to Eureka 7... regardless, sometimes I step back from this and wonder if I'm just being unreasonable. Dragon Ball Super is going to continue; the manga is. And the Broly arc happened in it. They just decided to do a movie for Broly's arc rather than have a Saga. Unless they redo it again like they did with Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. Either way, Broly has been confirmed to be canon.
