Thanks! I didn't even see the reflection until after I printed it. Rather nice mistake though. Kind of like penecillen.

Quite a beautiful flute. I play the flute, it's one of my favorite instruments. Great pic.

Ooooooooo! Is that an Allegro flute by any chance? B footed, by the loks of it.
I love the flute! It was my primary instrument up until five years ago when I switched to Oboe and English Horn. My flute is odd tho, My mom's parents bought it for her when she entered college almost 35 years ago, but it is very high quality!
Which reminds me that I really need to practice my oboe. I really haven't played it that much since I got braces in January *curse you braces!*
I love this picture. The music reflecting in the silver is absolutely gorgeous!

No, it's a Germeinhardt and yes that is a B foot though I don't know why it's there. No music I've played has that low of a B in it. I think I've been playing for about 6 or 7 years. I love the flute. But I don't understand why everyone assumes, just because we play flute, we can play the really high stuff really fast. Those are the worst fingerings ever! Do you have to play that fast on oboe?

At times. It is another suprano instrument that gets a lot of solos. I think that the p-roplr who invented the key fingerings never thought that people would try to show off using the high keys, but then again, people can be stupid. The oboe's range is the same as the flute (and all of the notes are the same too!), but an octive lower then the flute notes, so the third highest b would be the second lowest b on an oboe (as if that makes any sense....)
Geremeinhardt is a great brand and has an awesome sound quality to it. You are lucky to own such a high quality instrument!

Actually, Germeinhardts have gone down in quality recently. Had I gotten an earlier model from like 1990, it would be VERY good. Now, it's like Bach trumpets. 1 out of ever 10 will be a good instrument. Thankfully, I got the one. It's an intermediate that I've had for five years and I'm not planning on buying a new one anytime soon. I sound better on it than most professional flutes. Of course, I haven't tried the hand-made ones. I'd be afraid of breaking it^^

That's one thing I have ben discovering too.
Since I switched to oboe, I always could lend my flute out to people, and our first chair flotist accidently sat on her flute and bent the metal and broke several bars and keys on it. She decided to borrow my flute while hers was in the shop being fixed (another one of my friend's flute got ran over by a bus by complete accident! I should have taken it off her hands because it really was flatter then a pancake!). But she came up to me and told me that my flute was better then hers, which, I thought at the time was odd. Mine is over thirty years old, hers was a brand new Allegro B footed flute! But I have come to realize that the older the instrument, the better the quality. Mine may only be a C foot, but it is a french styled flute. I have played mine since sixth grade with out the flute plugs to cover the holes in the keys (I used a rental that was practically made out of aluminum my first year because I couldn't play mine). I couldn't be happier with it.
I hope that one day *when I am rich and famous * that I can oder a cusom made oboe and English Horn from a friend of mine that has seviced both my rental oboe in HIgh School, and my Cabart. Or I would love to own a rose wood oboe!

Yeah. The older the better. Within limits of course. I have a friend who plays alto sax and her sax belonged to her mom when she was in high school, so it's like 30 years old too. But the bell is solid silver and it alone is probably worth more than my flute.

Ah! Pancake. I sat on my flute, totally by accident and bent the foot joint a little. Didn't cost a thing to fix, they just realigned it when I took it for maitanence. I have dropped my piccollo several times though and I'm amazed the thing still functions.

Ah, tragic accidents that only the severist band geek would flip out about
My flute is also solid silver too! If it hadn't gotten so scratched up the last time I had Eckroth repair it, it would probably be worth a whole lot more... THat just remineded me that my flute needs to have a few keys repaded as well as a tune up :shudder:. Another trip to Eckroth, hopefully they'll be more carefull this time.

I have a really good repair shop in my town. Ted Brown Music. They do everything! I just had my flute checked so I'm good for another few months.

Lucky! I have yet to find one, so Eckroth will have to suffice. Now if only I could get it repaired for free (just found out one Summer class will cost me! $303.15 per month! Couple that with oboe payments... I'll be broke!)

I'm going to a leadership camp. $375. Plus a $75 jazz trip and a $55 debt to the band. Add lessons to that, well...I need a job!

Yeah. My only job right now is babysitting, and that's rare since one of my clients won't call back after they left a message and I then left a message. Just one big round of phone tag.
