Description This is a not too well done version of merdrags. Normally, the tails wouldn't be that brightly colored but I was bored and wanted to spice them up a bit. I had a lot of fun drawing these guys. I'm working on more pics of them and already have a Merdrag named Agro I'm re-doing in this form. You'll see more of him later, along with more Merdrags and some new creatures I've been working on.

Info:

All merdrags have white or pale tan bellies and are some mixture of green and blu colorations. Most have stripes but some sport spots, patches, or mottled colorations. The spine fin things are always brightly colored in reds and yellows and in many different patterns.

The spots at the end of its jaw are kind of like ears but much more sensative. Along the lower jaw are scent things like noses, similar to sharks'. Along the top of the jaw, running down the length of the head are more "noses". The placement is similar to owls' ears being at different heights on its head to determine which direction the scent is coming from. The jaw fins help catch sound waves traveling in the water like our outer ears do and protect the gills from debry the drags might swin through.

There is no real way to tell males and females apart except during mating season when the males' tails and dorsal fin-membranes become very brightly colored in almost every shade in the rainbow. They swim like crocodiles and are very agile in the water. If sailors' tales of mermaids are based on some mythilogical creature, I think this would be it.

Yeah. This version of Merdrags are my creation. Use at your own peril.

interesting, a relatively underused idea, but not totally new. I would like to see something come of these.
