Description

Again, some freaking out with new beginners. They can’t understand why their layer is hidden and not editable.

Take a breath, slow down.

Questions:

Why can’t I use and edit my duplicated layer in my animation?

Where the hell is my layer? Why can’t I edit it?!

Answer:

You haven’t specified it.

Right click your timeline, you will see your layer or duplicated layer there. Click it to unhide it from the timeline. Once it’s been specified you can continue animating and editing your layers.

You can also use your vector layers as well, just make sure you unhide it in the animation Timeline by specifying it. This is also true for using grouping folders within the animation folder for line art and colouring. You need to define or specify the folder before it is useable.

thank you so very much for investing the time in  trying to help me. and i get what your saying about clip not realizing that every new cell frame is a layer on its own.. its frustrating. ive tried everything youve said but no dice for now. i dont want to continuosly create new folders hopefully the video will help. it seems to me that clip should provide a new downloadable bucket that treats cells as layers. that would help so much X(

btw i love your animations

You're welcome and anytime! If you have any other questions, I'm always around to help out ^^ And yeah it is frustrating at first. There's just so many options that need to be turned on but honestly, it's so much better than trying to do any of this in photoshop or other programs.

Also thanks a lot! Really appreciate it ^^

Best of luck to you and your animations. Keep trying. You'll get the hang of it soon enough. You might find too that the reference option will work once your layer is in a grouping folder.

when i use the grouping folder option it doesnt treat the entire sect of my drawings as animation cels but rather as new layers. uh. i guess ill just go and duplicate it like one of your videos suggested. pls tell me when you upload your other  video if you can! and thank you so much i look forward to more animations

Good luck! I noticed some people are having bug like issues which is why I've posted a few of these work around tips. I hope the duplicate method works out for you. And sure thing. I usually post a lot of journal links and try to make each post a DA post. Also thanks for the watch ^^

I'm a bit slow at working on it at the moment but I'm working on a better longer fuller tutorial. I just don't have enough time to work on it like I'd like too.
