Whew!! This guy's finally done!I really loved drawing this, I've been playing with the idea of making a snowmobile like a dog for a really long time, but I was not sure how to approach it, so I animated it! I learned lots about timing and anticipation and stuff, and I had a great time making this
I WANT ONE OF THESE, it'd be like your best winter companion

Ahh, this is amazingly cute!! I really love the story, and the way it kinda folds up to scratch its own back, hehe~ The little snow mobile has so much character!
As for critique, I think perhaps when the ball is tossed and the adorable snow mobile turns to chase it, it could use a bit of a wider arc, but I'm not sure if that would do much, honestly. The staging for this is perfect, and the timing also--everything seems to go a nice pace, and nothing feels too slow or too fast. Really great animation, I love it!

Thanks! Yeah, I did quite a few edits to this as I was working to make the timing seem right, though I wonder how many people thought the animation was finished after the skidoo took off after the ball
I had to have the ball thrown from the direction of where the skidoo's facing in the beginning, and I wanted to have the skidoo go off-screen, so that bit where the ball bounces off its nose was added later in the process because well before....it was a curveball!
The hardest part was definitely where the skidoo jumps to try to get the ball, just because there was a little foreshortening and a perspective change and the different angle and aaaaaaa I'm surprised that part came out ok

Haha, I actually kinda expected it to return! The pause where it skidded off didn't feel too long or anything, so I didn't look away, haha. I think it's very interesting as it is~
Haha, perspective changes are hard enough in drawing, but in animation it's even worse! It helps me to have a grid as a sort of guide, so I can use it to help me make the sizes right.
And I'm happy to hear that!! Yaay for animation!

This is cute! Reminds me of a really old disney cartoon I use to watch years ago when I was a kid. It's nothing like that cartoon, it's just that lively movement reminded me of it. Gives it a lot of personality.

You're welcome. I agree. I'm trying to work on that but I'm getting ahead of myself. I need to take a few more baby steps first before I try animating movement like that. All your animations are so fun to watch. I'd like to make stuff like that one day.

hmmm, well baby steps are good. I'm a bit overambitious, I haven't really done much proper studying of animation, so a lot of my stuff has glitches in it

Thanks eric! jumping is a tricky thing to animate, 'cuz I had to figure out how to give him what's called the "pop" in animation, the bit where the skiddy squishes in the opposite direction from where it's about to move, like a really brief anticipation

Hmmm...It's hard because I didn't save it as a 'framerate' but as I think 1 frame every 70 milliseconds...so doing a quick calculation...14 fps?
