So here we have Ammy and Waka on the Celestial Plain with the Guardian Sapling. On the top is the past, when Waka was new to the Celestial Plain (and like any self-respecting fictional character is wearing the same thing he's always worn), Ammy was in all her former power and glory, and the original Guardian Sapling was still standing. (This is my own personal fanon BTW; we don't know how old Waka was when he fled the Moon, or whether or not there was a Guardian Sapling originally there, or even if Ammy really has a human form on the Celestial Plain).
On the bottom is the present. Waka is now 200+ years old, Ammy, while she has regained most of her original power, still is different from the way she was, and they've planted a new Sapling to replace the old one.
That is definitely the BEST Solar Flare... halo... thing... I have ever drawn. I LOVE it.
I also really like Ammy's clothes, both past and present. I tried to make little Waka's hat look big on him, but I think it shrunk in the present. XDOne thing that bothers me is the baby Sapling. It would work better if it was in the middle of the original tree, but I didn't want to draw a whole tree. LOL
I tried to make this look like it was on a scroll, and I'm not sure if I succeeded. Here's the scroll texture I used-

This is amazing. How did you end up doing the reflection? At first I thought you had just mirrored the image when I noticed Okami was wearing a different Kimono. Amazing.

I love the concept, and the way you've drawn Amaterasu and Waka. The subtle differences in Ammy's kimonos are fantastic. And yes, I'm in love with the Solar Flare Halo. My only critique would be about the Guardian Sapling's petals, they look sort of pasted onto the picture, or overshadowed? But they honestly don't detract from the simple beauty of the picture. /ramble

The fact that the petal are green in the bottom and pink at the past is a really well thought idea! Amazing!
Just wondering though... why did you pick the reflection (or bottom) as the present? Instead of using the reflection as the past?

The green leaves were originally going to be ash, since the Celestial Plain was essentially destroyed, but I went with leaves in the end cause they looked better. Plus, the Celestial Plain had been abandoned for 200+ years, so I guess ash would've settled by then anyway. X3

e.e but time is an eternity to me. i so impatient and now that im still banned and adoption are up for the next 3 weeks im like freaking out. that and i got enough deadlines on my plate as it is. i got less than a week to finish the extra credit project for school and i gotta film that and i'm not done with the head yet let alone tail and hands (doing a scene from a "Coyote Finishes His Work") and next month i got two adoption deadlines

Sorry, but adoptions are still not open to those banned from the community. That's one of the main punishments behind being banned in the first place.

Beautiful! Something makes me think that the Solar Flare should be behind her head instead of on top of it, like it kind of shows in this painting: [link] I also think if you wanted to go for the "painted on a scroll" look, the colors would have to be WAAY muted (they're a bit too bright for that look, check the painting out again if you know what I mean). Maybe put the scroll texture underneath, set the color's opacity down a but and overlay the same texture? I dunno, this is just playing around with photoshop in my head. It's still beautiful, I just wouldn't buy that it's painted on a scroll is all. ♥
Also, it might be a good idea to take the red ribbons out of the upside-down "present" Ammy's shoulder "wings" or whatever they are (not completely sure what it is).

I thought about trying to put it behind her head (I also thought about trying to make it into a hat of some kind), but I just kinda ended up making it into a halo-type thing. LOL
Yeah, I also thought the colors should've been more muted, but... I liked it being colorful. And for the texture, I had a copy of the texture as the background with a low-opacity blue over iy for the sky/water, and then I put a grayscale copy of the texture over everything else, lowered the opacity a little, and sut it to multiply. That usually works.
But yeah, I get that it doesn't look too much like a scroll painting. LOL Thanks for the feedback. :3
Well, at the end of the game, she regains all of her markings she had as Shiranui, including the red streaks in the swirls.

Well, according to all the ref pics I have, she actually doesn't have them in her tail. There's some red fur on her haunches, but not her tail. :/
