This picture represents my entry for Joe's August OC Contest: August Original Character Competition starts now!

This team represents a group of individuals living in San Francisco. I had hoped to write a short story for them, but this month has been very demanding IRL. A story synopsis and brief character bios will have to suffice.

Synopsis: Survivors found San Francisco fairly ideal for living after the zombie apocalypse. Many had deep reserves of nonperishable foods, bottled water, and other various resources designed for earthquake emergency situations. In addition, like other big cities, San Francisco had many homes with strong doors and barred windows. The survivors found themselves remarkably equipped and, for a while, there was hope.

Then the quake hit. It was the monster that had been rumored to hit the Pacific Northwest after Japan was rocked by its 9.0 quake years earlier. Survivors then found their resources stretched thin and their strongholds compromised.

As time went on, the number of survivors declined and the disheartened found it difficult to find a reason to live.

Bios:

Jacob "Ace" Hayes, portrayed by Brad Pitt, was a Special Forces soldier in the Gulf War and resident of the East Bay. He sailed across the Bay to seek refuge in AT&T Park suspecting it could hold a survivors' camp. He is trained and proficient with firearms and adept at leadership.

Walter "Hank" Rhodes, portrayed by Tom Hardy, was a truck driver passing through the Bay Area when the zombie apocalypse began. Being unfamiliar with the area, Hank relied on being taken in by a stranger--Madison--whom he helped looked after. From her window overlooking Market Street, Hank first noticed the Bike Courier and her bravery. Hank is knowledgeable with chemicals, machinery, and general engineering.

Soa "Hulkbuster" Silao, portrayed by Roman Reigns, was a professional baseball player in AT&T Park for a charity event when the outbreak began. With a small group of others, they secured the stadium taking advantage of its high walls and sturdy gates. The large reserve of bottled water, food, and shelter served the group well. Having the most knowledge of the stadium and being the most athletic, Soa became the leader de facto of the group, though he never asked for the responsibility of looking out for the group. He is skilled with a baseball bat and enjoys hitting home runs with zombie brains.

Tim "T.D." Donovan, portrayed by Denzel Washington, is the leader of a survivor's camp located on top of Bernal Hill from which the Bike Courier often operates. He is gritty, saavy, and fearless.

The Bike Courier, portrayed by Bernie from Gears of War 3, was a bicycle courier before the outbreak. He thorough knowledge of the city, exceptional physical conditioning, and skill on her bicycle allowed her to run supply missions in the city... for others. She regularly retrieved medicines and other various supplies for survivors throughout the city in a true display of altruism.

Fedor Emelianenko portrays himself. As a legendary, retired MMA fighter, Fedor was visiting San Francisco when the outbreak began.

The story, if it were written, would follow Ace and Hank independently finding their way to AT&T Park and meeting up with Soa's group of survivors. After turning the stadium into a location ideal for long-term survival, Hank tells the others of the Bike Courier and her bravery. He convinces them to leave the stadium to locate her and invite her to take shelter with them. Their search leads them to finding T.D.'s survivor camp where Fedor and the Bike Courier are the final survivors.

Can Ace, Hank, and Soa convince the others to leave their camp? Will they make it back to the safety of AT&T Park?
