Description
I've noticed that not too many people seem to make serious attempts at uncovering what Diglet's body looks like, so I did.Dugtrio's three bodies are completely seperated except for the ring thing around their necks. If the one carrying gets tired, they'll just rotate around. That's why they remain underground, too. It helps keep them from traveling on foot.
I drew this with my DS in hand.

I think these bodies would be far too able to life on the surface for the pokemons to actually see any advantage on staying perpetually buried. I'm of the opinion the head is probably the biggest part of a diglett/dugtrio's body.

That's not the way I see it. I really like this interpretation of Diglett and Dugtrio, fitting them perfectly. And as far as underground is concerned, given their size, especially Diglett's, it's probably a defense mechanism, or a preferance, they are Mole PokΓ©mon after all.

Are they like owls or something? do their heads turn in complete 360degrees or something?

In a way. Those rings hold them together, but they can rotate pretty freely. In the ground, Diglett just spin their whole body, not their heads.

Up from the depths, 30 stories high, breathing fire, his head in the sky! Diglett!

OMG Best exposed Diglett concept I've ever seen. Amazing. I love the Dugtrio idea.

Cool! I love it, but you could've done a little more with Dugtrio.

True...but all Dugtrio's ever been were three ticked off Digletts, so I just stuck with that idea. Glad ya like it though.

Here's a question you're probably familliar with. If you could design the appearance of Digletts evolved form, all on your own, what would it look like?

Dragga In reply to Raninum-plum [2007-06-20 19:16:28 +0000 UTC]
You mean if we were to ignore Dugtrio?
Hmm...I've never really thought about it. I'd probably first decide on whether to take the mole route or the worm route, then go from there.
I think I'd side with Diglett being based on a mole and have his evolved from look more like one. I'd still give it the angry eyes, perhaps some big, sturdy claws, and maybe have it's nose begin to look like the star-nosed mole. I'd have the sprite in battle be partially submerged in the ground wile the little party sprite would show it's whole body, as well.
That's how I'd take it.

Most interesting take I've seen. I imagined them with slightly worm-like bodies with big mole paws, and Dugtrio had a very big body to fit its three heads.

I think on Pokemon Snap you could see them with wormlike bodies. I don't remember though.
Thanks. The wormlike body for Diglett is cool, but after playing Mystery Dungeon I've always pictured Diglett and Dugtrio with more...animal like bodies as I remember Diglett saying it feels good to have his feet back on solid ground again.

Not too many people seem to think of anything serious for Diglett's body. It's usually a joke, like propellers or something.

propellers? I couldn't imagine what they would be like with propellers. sounds crazy if you ask me.

Yeah, I added the Sandshrew brick texture because it looked too plain without it.
Thanks.
