so, i read somewhere that raph had extra wrappings under his kneepads. Then i read the same thing in wikia. Then someone did a drawing about it.....then i started paying more attention to the show, and indeed, i saw it.Right after I made the connection between the crack on Raph's plastron with the knee injury....and imagined that Raph suffered a major accident, which scarred his plastron permanently and forced him to use extra wrappings around his knees at all times.
and this is a stubborn raph not accepting the fact that he may never ever be able to train along with his brothers.

And also this person told me that sometimes you can see painfull expressions of Raph when he gets hit on his knees.
About the lightning scar on his plastrΓ³n, I would like to knowtoo, but in the designs looks like he already have it when he just mutated :/ (pity, would have been a great story for a Flashback chapter)

i am crossing my fingers for a flashback showing our boys as tots and hopefully tell the story behind raph. i doubt he was born with it because that plastron crack extends to his shell on the same level. if anything it looks like it was done by accident. and that makes me wonder if the cracks and knees are related somehow

Personally I don't like that, I think that the creators could have done a nice story about that! Maybe he helping his brothers (possibly Mikey) or something when they were kids, from a danger in the sewers ...

American pro-wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin performed for the last several years of his big-time career with those huge, hinged leg-braces on *both* legs to support his twin blown knees. The image of seeing a bad-assed butt-kicker with such blatant mechanical, orthopedicΒ assistance added a new facet to his character.
Now that I know that Raph has an added and so-far-unexplainedΒ facet to his own character-- indicated subtly and primarily by his cracked carapace-- it makes his character a bit more interesting. Maybe said past event was integral as to his current on-screen personality..?

Maybe Raph is supposed to be some sort of "inspiration" for all of those who are stuck in a hospital or are missing limbs and such of the like. That sounds kinda cool.

I never noticed that before. Maybe the extra wrapping is done to imitate a knee brace. I know I have to wear one over my left knee when I work out. Else wise my left knee swells up to the size of a softball if I don't wear it. =_=

( I seriously think he does have weaker knees than the others because normally whenever he gets hit there it seems like it hurts more than any other place. Also I think it just might be something he was born with. my family doesn't have the best knee history and thats why mine aren't very good..
