Description
I was not planning to use color besides the dark blue on this one but those inks are just so pretty. Inspired by rachaelm5 's work.This one turned out much better than I thought it would at the beginning. I might update with a better picture later just did not want to wait any longer.

Something else I think you should try is get a stick of charcoal. It smudges really easily and makes it super easy to create an even layer of grey on the background. When you weaken the whiteness of the paper background it will make your subject pop out really nicely, all the more with silvery / metallic pigments.
(You can use a pencil too, but it will just take a bit longer and the grain of the paper is more easily visible.)

I have charcoal. I do not like it as much as pastels. I was going for the tonal paper look on this one but might use something like that in the future.
