Task #3 for Wardrobe

This is only a very very small sample of Iolanthe's very diverse, complicated, and mostly magical wardrobe She's an illusionist, she can wear whatever she wants But she does generally wear real clothes since making illusions does take energy and she knows that constantly keeping up that many illusions will eventually drain her magic.

Just one little note, she's not shown with her wand because she tends to make it invisible to keep it from "ruining the lines of her dresses" Not laziness on the artist's part. Nope. Moving on.

I went with themes, but keep in mind that she will wear more than one thing per season . . . she's a fashionable Lady who has to keep up her appearance of being foremost in Royal fashion! At least, while she's in Kentrell-by-the-Bend. When she's in exile she will still keep up her appearance of fashionista, although odds are that her clothes are woefully out of date after a few decades

1. Winter - Fur, velvet, and more fur, what better way to keep warm? Her hair is generally coiled around her head in various ways to keep the warmth in (especially around her ears, she hates having cold ears). Under all that she's probably got fur lined shoes or elegant boots.

2. Spring - Warm but loose fabrics, must be just as brilliant as the new flowers but still warm enough. I honestly hadn't even thought of pink for this outfit but my daughter proved that it would work, as long as it wasn't too much pink. Gold trimmed slippers to complete the look.

3. Summer - Flowy, light fabrics to keep cool, hair mostly off the top of her head for the same reason. She's barefoot because even ladies can go about in the hot summer in the Royal Gardens without shoes. Again, I was surprised that this color combination worked, but yellow looks very nice with her red hair

4. Autumn - She's ready for the cold weather and the indoor entertainments of court, silver isn't normally her decorative metal of choice but with the gold fabric and orange gems it works well Again, her hair is braided tightly to her head to help keep her warmer. My daughter helped me a lot with the colors on this one

5. Travel - One of the few times she'll wear clothing that is utilitarian, although it is leather and velvet. No point in having to use magic to protect her fancy clothes if she has clothes that are tough enough not to need them. Her hair is in two braids in front so that it doesn't interfere with the hood.

6. Shift - What she'll wear to sleep in, most of the time. I also suspect that when she is wearing illusionary clothes this is what she's got on under the illusion She wouldn't be naked under an illusion unless she had ulterior motives. No point in having to use a spell to keep warm in addition to making the illusionary clothing.

Iolanthe's Wand.

As you can see, it is dangerously sharp, it can both cut and stab and the sheath is made of metal surrounded by thick leather to keep it from stabbing the wearer. Wands are made to be very strong, although if someone was determined to destroy one it could be done with a powerful enough spell aimed at one or more of the collector jewels. This would cause an overload and the wand would shatter, injuring or possibly killing the mage holding it.
