Second assignment for - Profile: Draw your character in their underwear, showing their body type and draw their four basic expressions. Introduce your character:describe their personality in three adjectives and write a short sum up.

Occupation: High King’s Personal Wizard and Advisor

Shok’Artel allied himself with the future High King Gaetan and was instrumental in getting him in power. He
assisted with the assasination of King Raghnall and Queen Eriantielle by making sure their magical weapons were taken and hidden away and that Wizard-Healer Tiernan and Sorceress Iolanthe were unable to keep Gaetan from killing the King and Queen.

Shok was the one who came up with the idea of transforming criminals into horses and was in charge of the transformations. He was also the mastermind behind the torques that kept Prince Calaen and many others under the control of the High King. He made sure there were no Wizards or Healers capable of threatening his power; leaving very few magic users or healers within the High Kingdom. Most were killed but some went into hiding.

Unlike most Wizards, he has no wand. His power is amplified by the jewel he wears. Also unlike most Wizards, his powers don't come from The Gods, allowing him to be free of The God's rules or morals. His power comes from a much darker and malevolent source that requires a constant source of pain and death and also seems to have no limitations.

His appearance is very deceiving, he has made himself look much younger than his 60+ years, and wears a look of seeming harmlessness, but no one who knows him is fooled. He is dangerous, deadly, and not to be underestimated.

And he hates the fact that you all have seen how scrawny he is under all those lovely rich clothes Sorry, not sorry bud.

The guesses were pretty close in most cases, although the details weren't exact you all got that he liked torture a bit too much and was probably magic and that the black spirit/ghost had some sort of connection to him.

As stated above, Shok doesn't use a wand. This is because his powers work very differently from other Wizards. Shok was not born with any magical abilities, but wanted them so badly that he entered an agreement with the shadowy creature behind him (we'll cover what that is momentarily). The result of his agreement is that he is a conduit for the creature, both collecting power for the being and using that being's power for his magic. It's a mutual agreement, both getting what they want as a result.

The shadowy creature is called a Spukarie, also called a Dread Cloak or Fear Shadow by those who don't know it's true name. Decades ago they were created by one of the Gods during the Gods' War as a weapon against the other Gods. It gains power from pain, suffering, and pretty much any negative emotion. The stronger the suffering the better, and Shok makes sure it gets all the suffering it desires. This is why Shok tortures people, he gains more power and the continued assistance of the Spukarie.

But there are side effects for being such a conduit. Shok cannot feel any positive emotions nor is he capable of forming any real bonds with anyone. There is no real pleasure in torturing someone other than the power it gives him in return, but he takes pride in being very good at it and making the Spukarie grow and thrive.

Shok enjoys being High King Gaetan's Wizard because it gives him the freedom to do what he needs to do without worrying about coming into conflict with anyone higher up in status. Gaetan pretty much allows him to do as he wishes as long as it benefits the High Kingdom and his own Royal interests.

His dungeons were full to bursting with a variety of criminals, most of them minor criminals who hadn’t done anything bad enough to deserve death but still needed to be locked up.
He was also finding it difficult to get enough horses for his armies for transportation.
While discussing this problem with Shok’Artel, his Wizard and main counselor, he griped. “Too much of one and not enough of the other. If only I could use the prisoners for transport, but they’re not fast enough.” He growled. “If only I could make them horses.”
Shok’Artel raised an eyebrow, his pipe still in his teeth as he looked thoughtful. He then slowly removed the item and blew out a cloud of smoke before speaking, “That is a brilliant idea. I could transform the criminals into horses.”
