And then in the end, none of them are actually faster than Sonic. I've tested it in-game. Lightweight Palutena and Speed Shulk all lag behind him when they run super close to each other.

And then there's the Mii Brawler if you add the right equipment. Skating traction is a little tricky, but the 1.5x speed is great. Double that and you've got 3x speed, making your Mii fast enough to keep up with Sonic. Not only that, but with all that skating, he/she could be moving like Shadow.
