"Myakkuraudo"? I don't believe I've seen that version. And it doesn't sound like "McCloud" either. The second one, however, does.

It will always sound weird. Japanese doesn't always take on foreign languages well. But in my eight years of travel and study, my guess is that that is how they would Japanize it.
However, since I got the bright idea to do some research - since I remembered Star Fox came from Japan in the first place - I looked up his Japanese name, and they spell it ใใใฏใฉใฆใใ (the symbols on the ends are quotation marks)
