EDIT: I forgot to mention earlier and reiterate Spyke's words that this is HEAVILY AU, meaning it's an alternate universe and stuff is going to be extremely different. So Ashley's a xenophobe, nothing new there, and Garrus doesn't like it. Taren doesn't either but no fucks be given this day!
I like how this comic looks better than my own ._. Which is good! Means I'm learning a few things :3

So yeah, Ash is out of her element. I understand that, but it still came off as racism to me in the game. It didn't help her cause that practically every human character is as dull as dish water. Outside of Jack, I really never found any human NPC that great. Their just there, to take up space.

It did to me too, and then I thought about it a bit more and realized there's a bit more to it than blatant racism. At least to me anyway. I like her a hell of a lot better than Kaidan 
There's a couple more human NPCs I like, but overall they're not that exciting. The aliens made the best squad mates/LIs in my opinion.

Well I really liked Jack as an LI. First time I romanced her was with my infiltrator Jeff Shepard. once you got past the rough exterior, she was really interesting. She is by far one of the top 5 LI's at least in my opinion.
I won't argue Kaidan or Ash. Ash is by far the lesser of two evils. I just really wish they made the humans you're going to be allied with more depth.

I haven't gotten past the first game with my ManShep, but even as a FemShep, Jack opens up to you and gets interesting.

I meant xenophobe in a literal sense, not the alien-hating definition. She's uncomfortable and maybe slightly afraid of aliens because she hasn't been in contact with one long enough to really get to know them as the people they really are.
Plus, I forgot to mention, this is based off of an extremely alternate universe fanfic. There's a LOT not true to the actual story because the author wanted to explore other areas and tell a story that had deviated from the one we know and love.

I think it's mostly that she's incredibly uncomfortable around them because they're so foreign and she's never been in contact with them for very long. It's been a while since I did a full ME playthrough, but she warms up to the aliens after awhile.
It's like being around strangers. You feel really weird at first, maybe to the point where you don't want to be around them, and then after you get to know them, realize that they're people too, all that drops and you see them as you see yourself. That's how I look at it anyway.
