Yes it's been too long since I uploaded anything... I've had a couple long term projects I've been working on and I decided I needed to take a break on them and make another dragon!

Making dragons is always a great way to take a break lol! Those projects must be REALLY long in order for them to prevent you from posting all this time. Its good you posted something. I missed your extremely detailed scale work

Thanks. I have been working on sculpting and casting resin and that eats up a lot of time. Hopefully I will post that project this spring or summer but it's been a lengthy project.

No problem! You're extremely good at drawing scales, anatomies, and sculpting! Ah, so you've been sculpting this entire time? Wow, you must be working on it a lot for it to suck up THAT much time. How long does it normally take you to sculpt something? I would have thought by now you would have it down pat lol. What is it that you are sculpting? A dragon?

My sculptures DO take a long time because of all the scales, but this time I would say more of the time has been making resin copies. I made a dragon head sculpt and molded it, and have been making copies. I am making hollow resin casts- saves resin but takes longer to do, since you have to keep mixing up small amounts of resin and slosh it around inside the mold about 4 times per piece. The heads and necks are separate hollow pieces and I also have to cast solid horns for each one. I am trying to get as many copies as I can until the molds are too worn out to get a good cast. I am up to 11 copies and I think I can get a few more. I also do graphic design as my job and that's been busy too.
Sculpting time: the bigger stuff usually on and off for a couple months, the smaller sculpts I can do in a couple days. I usually like to pick at the details quite a bit so that ends up being the time consuming part. My Space Godzilla sculpt took a year and a half, on and off, but I was working full time at that point and that was a complex project since I had to carve all the back spines and cast the shoulder crystals in clear resin. My Triceratops sculpt is big but it took 3 months, so just varies depending on the project and what else I have going on at the time.

Yeah, like i said, your scale work is just absolutely PHENOMENAL. I always love and never get tired of seeing them lol. You're an absolutely AMAZING sculptor too. Your sculpts always come out and look so great. Its definitely due to you're amazing ability of drawing scales. It really brings them to life and makes them look realistic. I noticed your dragon sculpts tend to come out better than your other ones. I guess its due to your love of dragons lol? Which dragon head sculpt are you reproducing by the way? Is it the blue one?
Oh yeah! I remember the Space Godzilla you did! That was just AMAZING and epic!!!!! It came out so damn great! I LOVE that Space Godzilla you made! Man, i wish i had the amazing skill to sculpt. It must be awesome to just want something and then make it yourself. Im surprised you havent made a Godzilla sculpt too. So it took you over a year to make him? Damn lol. Talk about a labor of love lol. But in the end it was REALLY worth it in my opinion. If you werent busy, how long would it have taken you to make him?

I appreciate the compliments!
I am making copies of a brand new sculpt, I tried to sculpt it to make it easier to mold. Some of my sculpts would just be too hard for me to make a mold.Β It's a similar idea as the red and blue dragon busts though, maybe a bit smaller.
Space Godzilla:not sure how long it would have taken all together. I did do a Godzilla in 2003:

But I would also like to do another Godzilla sometime, maybe like the burning Godzilla from '95. Probably won't be anytime soon though. Sometimes I think about doing a King Ghidorah but THAT would be a big project!

No problem! You certainly deserve them!
Ah, so its a new sculpt? Im really curious to see what it looks like. Im assuming by you meaning that its hard to cast one of your other sculpts is due to how detailed they are?
You did!? Let me see.....Oh yeah! I remember this! Its been a LONG time since i last saw it. It looks REALLY, REALLY awesome!! You did a extremely awesome job on him! I love the Millenium model! And the thing is, you made this over 10 years ago and it still looks amazing! I can only imagine how even more awesome it would look if you were to redo it today with your improved skills.
A Buring Godzilla sculpt? Now that sounds awesome! I would LOVE to see that! I wonder how you would pull off the burning parts.
You're thinking of doing a King Ghidorah? That is also another extremely cool idea! The best part is, hes right up your alley! He would take AGES to make though. Not only would he be huge, but you would definitely go to town on his scales! That would be an extremely big project, but it sounds like it would be fun and challenging for you. If Space G took over a year and a half to make, god knows how long it would take you to make King Ghidorah lol.
