Two spotlights shone down and broke into the pitch black. They blinded Digi for a few moments as he blankly stared around to the other spotlight, Slowly another figure faded in, Crona! Digi called out and Crona turned. He looked surprised to see Digi here but neither of them knew why they were there. Then from in front of them a set of Dark purple eyes and a jagged mouth appeared and laughed menacingly. Crona closed his eyes slightly. That looked like… His though was cut off by the room suddenly illuminated! The floor seemed to be made of concrete… a raceway? Looking around the duo were shocked that the location they were now at seemed to be a combo of static highway, Sugar falls and a place only Crona would recognise! His home town! Clanging and clinging in front of them, floating was the boss, Time eater?!?! But it seemed different… It had strange marks that glowed with danger. It seemed surprised, “You are not the hedgehog! But I guess the blood will do my gears good!” Its voice was rusty and painful, like the screeching of a chalkboard. It roared and then began to attack. Digi wasn`t used to Time eater but Crona had learnt a great lot about it from sonic. So while Digi ran around like a headless chicken while observing Crona, His partner managed to get a few good hits in using his light blade and blaster! After a while Digi finally got the idea and swapped back to offence rather than defence . He attacked using his SSBB moves. Something was up, why was Time eater being so easy to beat! In Generations it was a pain in the butt. Then again that was more the case because you only have sonic`s friends saying useless info like `you can do it` or `watch out` all the time! Still this worried Crona but Digi just seemed to be enjoying slicing at the armour and taking out the beasts life points. Eventually the armour cracked and broke revealing gems over the shadows body. As any experienced gamer would know, Weak points equal gems or lights, Digi and Crona nodded as the Time eater began running or floating away. “Time to take chase” Crona laughed.
The fearless duo took close pursuit of the beast and quickly caught up. Digi grinned as he grabbed a power up. There was no announcer so the power up was random! Digi crossed his claws and activated it, The markings on his car began to glow green and binary processed. Digi pulled a fist to his chest. Just as planned. He shouted out “Cyber Dash!”. Digi`s kart jumped forward in front of the Time eater. Digi stood and jumped out landing on a mechanical gear that made one of Time eaters arm. Digi began climbing avoiding the numerous attacks that would of knocked him off. He reached a Light blue gem and was about to slash when suddenly he hesitated. “I can`t do it~” He sadly whispered. Crona, Who had finally managed to grab on jumped up next to the digital hero. He looked into the gem and gasped, Trapped inside was Bubble! She seemed not to be breathing but looked ok at least. Crona dashed over his side of the time eater and peered inside the gem… There was Vanellope! Same condition!. They couldn`t hit the gems without hurting their girls.. In fact of the 8 gems that filled its body all of them had a specific hero in… Even Sparkz! There was another scream of rage as Gloyd dropped from above and began hitting the gem. He stopped realizing it was hurting his future wife. The Time eater shook and everyone fell off back into their karts. They drove close to each other and talked over the intercom. “So what the heck we gonna do?” Gloyd asked his voice shaking with rage, Crona replied in his own time “ We have o beat this thing.. But not by hitting its weak points.” Digi was listening but was busy looking at the subjects caught. “Geeze why is it always female that this guy has trapped! What a sexist jerk!” He remarked. The he noticed something, He reported it straight away. “There look! A ninth gem! With no-one in!” Digi shouted excitedly. Crona quickly acknowledged Digi’s point and fired sweet seekers at it. He would of fired again if Gloyd didn`t point out how every time the gems were changing places.
This made the fight last longer but the sheer determination the lads had to save their girls kept them going and eventually the Time eaters health was depleted to critical. Now the ninth gem had smashed and the eight were only left. But this didn`t matter. Time eater seemed weak as it crashed to the floor. The trio made a pained look as they heard the crash, hoping no-one was badly hurt! All at once They activated a special move Crona had designed for any group of racers. The power up boxes flew out of the karts/bike and fused to create a massive lollipop cannon. All together they screamed at the top of their voice “LOLILIGHT DESTROYER!” Quickly and noisily the rocket shot into the sky and flew over the Time eater. While over the shadow being, it exploded flashing light everywhere.Time eater roared as it melted away into nothing. Leaving only the eight gems behind. The tri high fived in celebration of another decent battle won then looked at the gems that now surrounded them. There was a hissing as all gems cracked and shattered into crystal confetti dust. As the Girls began to cough, splutter and spring back to life, the lights intensified and all three found themselves back where they had been before, but collapsed on the ground.
Digi woke up with a sharp pain in his leg. He shuffled around in his pocket and found a pendant! He had planned to give Bubble this pendant but never got a chance to. Thing was… The gem was different. Before it was sapphire and now it was the much rarer `Soul gem`! . Digi held onto Bubbles hand as he guided her out of the ghost train, she had no idea what had happened but there was no-way Digi was going to tell her everything. When outside he knelt down and fumbled around in his pockets. He stood back up and presented her with the pendant and spoke softly to her , “Here. I want you to have this, It’s a soul gem… As long as the gem glows, you`ll know Im ok” He smiled as she tightly hugged him. Meanwhile with Crona , he had smacked his head against the control panel so was bleeding a small amount which Vanellope quickly cleared up. There was something inside Crona`s pocket too, Instead of a pendant however it was an upgrade? Crona scanned it and grinned. “Whats that?” Vanellope asked confused. Crona hugged her tightly “This my sweet, Is an upgrade for the kart bakery… get ready to swap four wheels for two!” Vanellope Jumped for joy she was just as over-exited as she was about racing! In their groups of two , both of them began walking back when they felt something else in their pockets. They took out a note almost in sync and read it in their head, `Keep them safe, Thank you for playing against me, Now I am free of darkness!` Digi shrugged at it and Crona lifted an eyebrow. In sync they spoke “Strange!”
