Good question.
Who knows what the technology will be like in the 24th Century. They could be part of the global transportation system or part of the global power system.
The texture maps original came from "Future Earth" and "Atlantis Imperium" on the Celestia Motherload site. I made some modifications to them for my own use.

I'm not big on the "Global Warming"... Oops, I mean "Climate Change" Global Disaster Scenario. Too many just accept what some say without looking at it themselves. It has been warmer in the past as well as colder.
