Instinctively, Mario drew his hammer and Link drew his sword and shield. From the smoke a fat, bronze-colored, armored monster came walking. A whack from Mario's hammer was all it needed for the monster to trip and fall over. Before any other attack could be done, the bronze suit opened and from it a Toad came out. "STOOOOP!" the Toad yelled at Link, who was about to stab the suit. "Sorry for scaring you. I am Scott T. and this is my lab. I'm a fisherman, but I also like to do some experiment every now and then. Please come to my house, it's the least I can do for putting your lives in danger."

Once they all were inside, Scott offered some water. Goombella asked Scott about the rumored monster that was terrorizing the lake. "According to what some of the townsfolk told us, it was a monster made of rock, others say there was a ghost that possessed water and drowned it's victims, and a few more say it was a giant, vicious turtle monster with spikes… Oh no! Mario! Could it be Bowser?" "I could have. This is another dimension" answered Mario. "There IS a turtle-like creature here…" noted Scott "Come and I'll show you." he went outside and everyone followed. He turned toward the lake and yelled "NESSIEEEEE!!!"

After a minute or so, bubbles began to come from the bottom of the lake. In a splash, a blue koopa-like creature showed up and came out of the water. It had long blue hair, with golden pearls decorating it. It had a golden shell and what seemed like breasts in the front of the shell, fin-like ears, and a long tail that ended up in fur that made it look as if it were a mermaid tail. Her aqua colored eyes scanned everybody and then focused on Scott. "Eh? Uncle Scott, do we have visitors?" she asked. "Umm… A Koopaling?" Mario, Luigi and Goombella asked at the same time, confused. "Eh? No I'm a… I don't know what I am, I've never thought about it!" Nessie answered, everyone facepalmed. It quickly grew darker because it was getting late. Scott offered the party to sleep in the warehouse, where Nessie sleeps. Before they all went to sleep Goombella and Nessie chatted and chatted, quickly becoming friends. The rest of the night passed without any remarkable event.

The next day, everyone had breakfast, which mostly consisted of fish, made by Scott. After breakfast, the party exited the house to continue with its research, but as soon as they exited, Link noticed a naked woman sitting in the middle of the lake. Before he could warn anyone, the woman stood up in the water and a blue cloak materialized, covering her.

"The blue hedgehog and the red echidna live; the boss sure is careless when it comes to his opponents" she said when she saw Sonic and Knuckles. She raised her hand and a colossal wave formed and crashed down on the heroes. Mario, Luigi, Link, Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles were the only ones that withstood the impact. Marco and Shadow were simply standing, without any intention to fight "Hmm? Strong foes, no wonder the master didn't kill you." the woman said in a calm voice. Dash and Colin quickly joined with the fighters. "What's with all the ruckus?" nagged Scott as he exited his house "Wow! A spirit of the lake?" he exclaimed when he saw the mysterious woman. All little later, Nessie also exited the house. The woman looked at Scott "I am no spirit. I am Luna, codename 'Water', nice to meet you. Now as long as you are not the red-cap, the blue hedgehog, or the green knight, you may go away and live, or stay and die." With the exception of Scott, everyone stayed and prepared to fight. 'Water' raised her hand once again, and water rose above her and froze, forming ice spears, which she threw at everyone. Everyone evaded, but Nessie just stood there, somewhat confused. A spear went directly toward her, but struck her in the shell. Nessie was pushed away, but suffered no harm. "That's some hard shell" noted Shad. Nessie stood up "Oww! That hurt. I don't like bullies!" she said, then threw bubbles at 'Water'. The woman simply blocked with a wall of water, but was distracted long enough for Link to shoot an arrow and Luigi to jump and hit her with his hammer. The blow send her to shore, where now Sonic, Knuckles and Colin attacked. She dodged Colin's sword and Knuckles's punch, but Sonic was too fast for her and got kicked. Dash then attempted a Ground Pound, but she barely avoided it. She rolled out of the way and stood up, only to find herself surrounded by opponents. She looked from one side to another, then quickly clapped her hands. A column of water surrounded her and expanded, pushing her enemies away. "They are too many. Master won't like this…" she said before a black portal appeared on her feet and she warped away, just like Darkness did when he abducted Eggman.

"What was that?" asked Link, somewhat annoyed. "I don't know, but this doesn't look good. We fought someone like her a few days ago" answered Knuckles. "Wow! You guys are awesome!" everyone turned around and saw an excited Scott "and wow! Nessie, I didn't know you could fight!". Nessie smiled "Neither did I, ha ha ha!" everyone facepalmed again.

After they all rested in Scott's house, they told Scott about each one's story. "It looks like fantasy story: strangers appearing out of nowhere to fight an invisible evil. You guys have inspired me to write a book!". Although Scott was only joking, everyone knew their adventure could very well be that, saving a new world from invisible evil, it wouldn't be surprising to anyone, specially Mario, Sonic and Link, considering it had happened to them.

The next day, they decided to return to Halla Castle and report to the king. 'Darkness', and now 'Water'; these two seemed to be part of something bigger, but what? What was their objective? And who is the master 'Water' was talking about? Somehow, they all must find out, for if they don't, the world of Halla, and maybe even their own, could be in great danger.
