Description
Note: I was not going for a Railway Series-esque design, nor did I even use RWS-references while drawing this interpretation of the character in mind. The overall intention was to make the character resemble a model that at least looks somewhat more convincing than the average toy.

‪I bear in mind that Thomas must look convincing to an extent, yet at the same time the design should not deviate too much from the traditional Thomas-model.
‪Since Thomas’ design (outside of coloration-variety) is very much iconic and simplistic, I just wanted to make some tweaks such as shaping his proportions to be more compact (staying true to the “short-&-stumpy” description), plus making his front-area (most particularly the side-tanks) slightly aerodynamic to provide a higher top-speed.‬

Background:
An experimental E2-tank engine originating from the London Brighton Southern Coast Railway (LBSCR), Thomas was shortly marked as “lost” for about a year after his own kind faced the very brink of extinction... until a certain stout man with a top-hat eventually purchased the tank engine in 1915 in order to help construct and maintain the railway-lines of what was established as the Island of Sodor. This task was done quite well with the help of a larger, K2 “Larger Seagull”-locomotive known as Edward.
Then a substance of mysterious origin poured across the lines of the island; a substance that was liquid, spreading rapidly from engine to engine in their sheds... and Thomas was one of the first to be affected. But symptoms did not show too clearly until a few years afterwards.
Unfortunately, the humans (including Sir Topham Hatt himself) remained blissfully unaware of the situation — that was, until they found Thomas and the other engines displaying signs of driving themselves and hauling rolling-stock that would be otherwise too heavy for one engine.

Out of almost all the engines of the main fleet, Thomas seemed to go through the least amount of changes. Aside from an obvious slight boost in size and strength, there was very little information uncovered about his capabilities in a full-on brutal confrontation. If anything, the findings were vague and “mixed” — He has been recorded doing things such as outrunning the A4 “Mallard” Class Spencer within a short time-frame, as well as pulling around a pair of express coaches with minimal signs of struggle (etc).
At that point, it could not be confirmed whether or not if Thomas had multiple enhanced abilities. The very best that his crew would put out in fact, was “He brings luck, to a fault.”

Personality:
From generations throughout, Thomas typically wasn’t above habits of recklessness and mischief. A generally proud and courageous engine at heart, yet also one who was quite scatterbrained and found it difficult to accept blame.
As one who earned the title as leader of the railway’s main fleet (code-named “Steam Team”), Thomas primarily strives to defeat all surrounding evils whilst still carrying the responsibility for the lives of his allies.
Although, he still remains curious and does not easily accept backing-down in certain confrontations when he needs to. He eventually became devoted to following and meeting the demands of Sir Topham Hatt, to a point where he had to realize he was becoming clingy.
Thomas is still willing to be highly competitive when he believes the situation demands it, but keeps himself aware of his own strengths & weaknesses.
He has stated (at least once) that his overall objective above all else is to simply “defend the railway and his family, at any costs necessary.”
