To quote Doctor Doofenshmirtz (I bet people have nightmares about spelling that), "If I had a nickel for every time (this happened), I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?"

Maybe it's because I'm a guy, but I think shopping brings out the weirdest and sometimes the worst in people. One of the top weirdest: people wanting a refund on an item they're not returning. No, I'm not kidding. I was scratching my head all day over this, twice.

It's not complicated, people: when you get a refund on a product, you are effectively selling it back to the seller. To sell, you need something to sell (unless you ate it, but why did you eat it if you didn't want it?). Taking it a small step further, stores are not magic lamps. They don't poof stuff into and out of existence. If you refund a sellable product (say, a coat that just turned out to be the wrong size), it goes back on the shelf for someone else to buy. If it's not sellable anymore (say, your bag of dog food was moldy when you opened it), they send a report to the supplier so *they* can get a refund. Besides, giving a refund without a product is basically giving the product away whether it's defective or not, and that's asking to get scammed. Maybe not by you, but by someone.

Please, with the Christmas shopping season coming, show a little common sense for the people who get you the things you want.
