Description Boatbill is a high derived pelagic descendant of Pteranodontid Pterosaurs that that has become a flightless filter feeder, however, this is characterized by being mostly close to the surface using its large peak which is quite hollow and allows it to float on the surface.

Does it just open its mouth just a bit in order to take in food or does it open it all the way? Because I somehow feel like opening it up all the way would affect floatation in a negative way (unless the hollow spaces used for floatation are exclusive to the upper jaw of course)Β

It opne the mouth o a certain angle, from an angle of 15 to 20 degrees. The jaw only open from the lower part, the upper part stayΒ steady as is the main flotation part
