Description “They were pinkish things about five feet long; with crustaceous bodies bearing vast pairs of dorsal fins or membraneous wings and several sets of articulated limbs, and with a sort of convoluted ellipsoid, covered with multitudes of very short antennae, where a head would ordinarily be.... As it was, nearly all the rumours had several points in common; averring that the creatures were a sort of huge, light-red crab with many pairs of legs and with two great bat-like wings in the middle of their back. They sometimes walked on all their legs, and sometimes on the hindmost pair only, using the others to convey large objects of indeterminate nature. On one occasion they were spied in considerable numbers, a detachment of them wading along a shallow woodland watercourse three abreast in evidently disciplined formation. Once a specimen was seen flying—launching itself from the top of a bald, lonely hill at night and vanishing in the sky after its great flapping wings had been silhouetted an instant against the full moon.”

H.P. Lovecraft, The Whisperer in Darkness

This seems to me to be one of the most interesting race of the lovecraftian universe, being the only fully active species by the time mankind exists with having several bases around the northern hemisphere and mining in almost inaccessible territories, also for its ability to transplant human brains in strange metal jars with which those selected people can travel beyond the earth to any point of space.

----------

Edit: Added robust last pair of legs.

Simple, detailed, effective. I'm sure there's someone else who's come up with a more striking depiction of the Fungi From Yuggoth, but this one has a very particular sort of quality. I almost want to say that you're deliberately emulating the artwork from old field guides, where they used drawings instead of photographs for the various plants and animals - definitely a good look.

...ability to transplant human brains in strange metal jars with which those selected people can travel beyond the earth to any point of space...Weird idea, but has any human being seen an actual Mi-Go?

Mi-Go possess biotechnological skills advanced to the point where they find it more convenient to surgically remove brains and transport those around, assembling bodies at their destinations than to travel as intact creatures. Perhaps the batwinged crabs with the wrinkly heads aren't the real Mi-Go as much as their protective equipment for the alien environment of earth. It would be like if a lunar alien thought humans were much bulkier than we actually are, had wrinkly grayish-white skin, hunched backs and faces consisting only of a single, featureless golden cyclopean eye because every human they'd seen looked like that . The real Mi-Go are disembodied brains who can be interchanged between artificially produced bodies.

Nice vision, especially interesting wings (something theoretically useless on Earth, but what about space?), but I still don't know, why most of artists design Mi-Go with tails. I don't remember any text about it in the story, but I can see tailed Mi-Go are veeery popular.

Thank you.
Yes, I had seen that tail detail strange, sometimes I thought that its back was also similar to some crustaceans lacking a "tail", that this back is wrapped around the belly or lacking this and only have a rounded and short back part.

I really like this interpretation, the multiple wings becoming one single one is a nice touch.

The only criticism here is that the last pair of limbs does not have different morphology, despite the description stating sometimes they only walk on these only. I just don't think such puny limbs would be enough to get bipedal...

Yeah, I must say that at the last minute I was thinking of adding a sturdy pair of legs after those last that would have had enough strength to hold such body, however, I let that pass.
Maybe I would probably add them at some point in the future, in a next update.
