Description
The teen was hunting a rabbit when a pack of snow wolves appeared, obviously they outnumbered her, so she ran. It just wasn't her day she thought, the wolves chased after her right as she ran in the other direction, maybe it was because she was hunting in their territory or perhaps they were just starved from the lack of prey during the winter and she would have made a nice meal. Either way she didn't fancy the idea of being bitten.Ice and snow covered every inch of the ground she was running on, it was sheer bad luck she stepped onto some thin ice that covered a small entrance to a cavern. The ice gave way under the stomping of running feet and she inevitably fell in. She didn't know how long was she out cold, but when regained consciousness, she was already laying face down on the ground. Her first reaction was to get up, but as soon as she tried to push herself up with her arms, she felt a sharp piercing pain run though her body. The feeling made her gag involuntarily and she brought her hand up to her mouth right after. Blood? There was blood on her hand, she was coughing up blood? Fearing the worst, she pushed herself to sit upright despite the pain, she had to see what else was wrong with her. Now upright, she could see that she had a large bleeding gash across the right side of her torso, no wonder it hurt so much, did she hit something sharp on the way down here? She sighed in a little in relief though, at least she didn't break any limbs during the fall, at least she could still walk around and find away out.
Holding her breath, she slowly made her way back onto her feet and glanced over the area. There was no way she could climb out the way she dropped in, the wall was too steep to climb and yelling for help wouldn't have done any much good in this remote area. The spot she was standing on was the only place illuminated by the light shining though the hole she fell in from. The further reaches of the cavern were dark but she could pick up a tunnel in the darkness. She thanked the fact she was born a demon of the night for once.
Taking one step at a time, she inched along the walls of the cavern and headed towards the tunnel, it would be minutes before she noticed that it was an entire maze system of tunnels. "Just my luck...." She told herself as she traveled though the tunnels, it wasn't all dark apparently, some tunnels further along the way had openings in the ceiling letting the light in but there was no way to get up there, the teen found it as a taunt from mother nature herself. At times, she also could have sworn she heard or saw something moving in the tunnels even though she never seemed to bump into it, not that she would want to anyway.
She walked for what felt like hours, still no way out. With the lights that lit the tunnels diminishing, it was obvious to her that daylight is fading. And was it her or was it getting colder in these tunnels? A while later and the last of the light faded, she tried to continue on by feeling her way though but it proved rather futile. This tunnel she was currently in, had quite a lot of obstacles, what ever they were, she kept tripping over them or got poked. She kinda cursed the fact that she didn't bring along her travel sack when she went out hunting, she could really use a fire here. Whatever....her feet feels heavy, she's freezing and the right side of her torso was probably numb since the pain didn't seem to bother her anymore. It was just one more step before she just gave up on walking blindly and huddled up on the ground. She sat there, shivering in the dark just trying to wait out the night, it was fine for the first hour but the longer she waited the more challenging it got.
"How did I ended up in this situation...." She mumbled and clutched the gash on her side as she felt the prickling sensation again. She understood the fact that she fell in here, though she knew was asking herself why was she here to begin with. Ah that's right, train to get stronger. Why get stronger? To join the Arean Army. Why the Arean Army? Because she heard from someone she can get her family back if she did. Isn't her family in Kriva-Harbor, they moved together with her didn't they? No, they aren't, they just look like her family members, they are different people. It's true, they were kicked out from their village, it's normal if people are effected by it, she knew that much but.....that's really not her family anymore, she doesn't recognize any of them, they were far apart from who they used to be. She tried to blend in, get used to this new way they were acting but it wasn't right. What bugs her the most was that she wasn't even there to see them change, she was knocked unconscious during the riot by the human villagers that lead her kind to flee from the village. By the time she woke up, everything around her changed, the environment....the people, she felt like an outsider even within her own family. Since all of them couldn't get back to their old selves, she wanted to help them do that, they were happy back then at the village, but now that was all gone. If she could get the village back they could turn back to how it once was.
Maybe....it isn't just solely for them, she wanted to do this for herself, to prove to them that she could do something for them for all the things they did for her in return. In reality, she herself was being hacked away on the inside too, long before them, way back when her parents left for dead. She had been feeling that she had been dragging them down with her problems. She knew that for a fact she was the member with least 'value' in the family, she didn't have the strength or the speed of the others, she was the smallest and shortest too, the only thing she was kind of proud of was the fact that she can read letters and words unlike the rest of them, but that can't really help them on the all important farm can it? She was always helped but never the one who gave help. Her family had enough problems to deal with now, she just couldn't bare to add her problems to the wagon. With them being kicked out of the village, they lost their farm too and were broke. They were having difficulties raising a new farm in Ares and it was hard enough to even bring a loaf of bread to the table. She wanted to help but she just wasn't cut for the job. She wandered though the port town during the nights and it was there that she gotten the idea that she should fight to get their village back. Knowing that they would stop her from joining the army, she just packed up and left when everyone else was still asleep, leaving behind a letter that she knew they can't read, she didn't even say goodbye. Her family was strictly against violence, but she wasn't, she was fine with throwing that away if it meant having her family back to the way it was again. During the time, she read that the Arean Army had many powerful members, in strength or magic. Since she wasn't particularly good at any of those, she figured she had to keep up with them, that why she went on a training trip. Though she can't remember where, she remembers hearing that if she went to Dragon-Hallow she could get stronger faster, that's why she traveled there and made it her training grounds. She estimated if she could survive a few years out there, she would be skilled enough to bring down other people and be of help in battles. And maybe one day, she could would take her village back and her family could move back in, she could have at least done something.
"But, you couldn't do it....You're going to die here......Look at.....the bright side....t-they have one less mouth to feed-" She said to herself before she felt a lump in her throat, she bit her lip and buried her head in her knees not caring how much pain that caused, she just huddled up as tightly as she can. ".....I.....I don't want to die....." The teen repeated in between sobs knowing that even if she begged it wasn't going to change anything, she was going to freeze to death right here. For a brief moment, she felt that the world just stopped spinning, minutes felt like hours, though not like it was the first time she felt like this, she had been feeling this way for a long time. Maybe Death was more like a old friend to her than she thought, maybe she should just welcome it without a fight.
"Why are you crying?....Girl"
A voice? Here? Who? All these thoughts ran though her mind as she heard that question. It sounded a little odd, it didn't sound like it came from a living person, the voice felt like a metallic echo. She looked towards the sound and a faint glow came into view right next to her. The glow grew in intensity and revealed a skeleton with a sword stuck to it's chest, she was sitting next to this thing all this time. She leaned back quickly, startled by the scene, there was a skeleton in here? Someone really did die here? Or was it Death and she was already dead? It seemed likely. She continued to stare at it, she held her breath since she didn't know what to think.
Little did she know at the time, this meeting would set in motion a whole line of events that would change her life in the years to come.

BD huhuhu finally, you get to see the beginning, the exact moment Mavis and Ira met. It was all a lucky coincidence....OR IS IT?
They didn't get along right after this though, they still have stuff to do before that actually happens XD

HHHHNNNNNNN *remembers the other comic you did about Ira in that position.* Did he get moved or did people just build things around him?
Gosh it's weird to see Mavis with red eyes |D Though her expression is really nice, both scared but also . . . calm in a way?
*cough* that must be some hella sturdy cloth to last even after all the fleshy stuff disappeared |D Still makes for a rather cool image. *forever loves the size difference between them*
Gosh she took that rather well, I think I would be backing up in a panic seeing this stabbed skeleton pop into view next to me |D
*wants to know more, loves this story* >u<

>v< awwww thankies Aeal~ *petpets* He got moved, but by who or what though, it's up to you guys to find out *sprinkles hints everywhere in future pictures and gets hit*
LOL yeah, |D drawing her with red eyes is still weird for me too. Though I did figure she'll be kinda calm while still being scared with the situation she was in, was starting to fall into that phase where the idea that maybe dying would be easier and could have fixed all her problems, she just lost that much hope in the world at that moment that death felt a little like relief and that relief was something she wanted.
BD And that cloth is some sort of special cloth passed down from guild master to guild master, it's weaved out from pure mana so it doesn't rot like normal cloth and even take different forms depending on the guild master wearing it at the time.
Nah XD, she's more like a deer in front of your headlights back then, just stand at one spot staring at you for a whole moment before noticing you might accidentally run it over, I should really draw a comic of what happens after, all the delayed panicking.
Thanks again and Im glad to read that huhuhuhhuh 8D~<333

Pfffff XDDD *looks forward to figuring that out then* and they were so nice as to put him in the same position as before |D
Bawwww poor babu ;3; Glad she's got some better stuff happening in her life now. Hopefully |D Aside from freaking psychos ripping her eye out. |D
Ohhhhh that makes sense XDD Magic cloth
Ahahaha XDDD delayed panicking. That seems pretty legit though, not knowing if you're actually dead or not, or just gone insane and talking to stabbed skeletons. 8'D

Try to read THAT 10x fast.
This is stunning.
The writing itself could be a stand alone piece, but coupled with this image it's just a guilty savory treat.
I absolutely adore this-Both because of the macabre lighting but also for all the subtle imagery and symbolism swirling together as one.
I have more questions than answers and that only adds to the overall appeal.
Yet again you surprise me.
I won't be surprised again, you've officially surpassed all my expectations.
Beautifully done~<3

Huhuhuhuh gosh goodness, thank you Sol~!
I always been a more visual person I suppose, writing is like a nice dressing to add to my pictures.
Yeah, a scene as simple but weighing as much as this totally deserves some eerie lighting to go with it. Though I'm glad to read I finally pulled off a pic that can be recognized as having symbolic elements without needing to slap the audience directly in the face with that fact LOL.
XDDD If ya have more questions than answers, then I'm doing it right, the best thing that could happen to a story teller is to get people thinking. I really love reading people's analysis on what they think about a certain work, it's fun reading all the different views people come up with.
Anyway, thanks again! ^v^< 3
