So I came across a comment from a year ago where I promised to do some pointers on spriting avatars. I uh... I guess I never did that and I still haven't... because I started these two for that purpose, but they're smaller than avs, and I actually finished the sprites before I remembered I was making a tutorial and then worked backwards to give you this.
This is a pretty brisk overview of how I do small sprites and sprites without my mouse, such as my avatar now, and [link] that one. There are tons of ways to do sprites, but for fullbody critters 50x50 and under, I like this style.

A lovely tutorial! Hopefully it will assist me in finally being able to make itty-bitty sprites! I do have a question though, how much do you zoom in?

Ooh, I'm glad that you enjoyed it - do let me know if there's any additional steps I should add. It depends on the specific image, but normally between 400%-800% is good for me. I personally find the closer I zoom in, the more frequently I need to check it at 100%.

Man, I started out with a sketch for Savvore's thing; it wasn't too bad, but I did the same for Kaz's, and I don't like the turnout. x_x
I will definitely look back at this guide when I start on Kaz's again.

For 50x50s a sketch can help, but it all really depends on how clean your sketch is, and the clarity of the pose. I may try to do another guide for more traditional sprites, later. X3 And thank you for reading!
