Okay, First off, I understand math. I understand it and Acknowledge it completely. but there's some parts that make no sense. Like this, algebra in life you use math 24/7. but last time it wasn't... well.... that. GEDDIT??!I havent seen one thing in algebra yet that points out something I need in life. A teacher Of mine once said,"you need it for college." Thats believable. but what about REEAAAALL LIIIIFE??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...That is all.

You'll be surprised some day about the amount of algebra you end up using in REEAAAALL LIIIIFE.....! I know I was.

Algebra is like Physical education for the mind...er...mental education
Its exercising your brain and benefits in ALL classes. and having many problems assigned for homework is to keep your brain active in a way.
unless you spend hell-filled hours on homework every night like me. good thing my algebra teacher lets me do every-other problem :33

This stuff is really important if you want make money in your future.
Math is really important in politics (budget planning, statistics), economics (analysis of enterprise needs, for example), insurance (defining insurance tax), architects (proportional planning), landscaping (landscape planning), city planning and management (transportation analysis, demand analysis, infrastructure needs analysis) etc.
If you're really think that math is nothing you're so so so wrong
PS: I'm NOT a math teacher. I'm a economist

Algebra basics is necessary if you intend to take more advanced math-related courses in college, like chemistry, calculus, trigonometry, and so on. Those advanced classes are specifically helpful for certain career paths that require a lot of higher calculation, like biochemistry, engineering, and computer programming. It's more of a training tool to get your mind poised in the art of mental organization.
I love math, too, but I hit a snag when I took Intermediate Algebra and Geometry when they turned the polynomials into programming-like elements, which I totally suck at
Also, IF you did make this picture, as in took a photo of it, could you be more specific in your artist's comment? You scored a 1 point in the Tineye search, but it didn't look like your rendition at all (damn thing must've taken the white 'algebra' word against black as a defualt in order to compare with the rest of the Internet's vast space of utter confused information).

Actually got into this debate with my college algebra teacher last night. I'm 24 been out of college for like 5 years before going back, worked in corp america and in the american workforce, not once did I see a use for any of this at all. Business math I saw relevance for but anything past that is useless to me personally unless I wanted to be an architect or something that did require it. 9-5 jobs and most professions wont use it. His argument was that it is used to exercise your brain and it was because of people like "us" that the economy and society is going to the dumps. Needless to say we still found other ways to exercise the brain, such as art, music, puzzles, video games, etc etc that could do it just as good if not better than math.

I don't really believe you however I'm sure you haven't thought of the computer and the programs you used to make this.
Not even the chair you sat in, nor the table you had your computer on.
Because if you had you wouldn't have asked that, or maybe you simply don't consider engineers being a part of real life.
You see, shortly, engineers made pretty much everything you use, by using algebra to come up with effective algoritms.
For an example, design engineers made your chair not just nice looking but also ergonomic thanks to algebra.
Computer and software engineers made the programs and the computer you use them on thanks to algebra.
And the architects made the houses you are and have been in.
But that's not all.
Among many other things algebra is also a tool for developing the thought process, to put it bluntly it makes you smarter by giving you the tools to fully use your brain capacity.
And I'm pretty sure you're using your brain in "REEAAAALL LIIIIFE???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".
Because you haven't thought about this I don't believe you understand math, and I don't think your teacher did it either.

The uses of maths are far more obvious and actual than the uses of whatever you might learn in music. It's a pitty that no-one is successfully hating that sad excuse for a subject for it's complete pointlessness. Do that instead, and publish demotivational/motivational posters on a page better suited for yourβ¦ artβ¦

Ahh ... Good times
You can't imagine how much math has been used at your everyday stuff, before you become an engineer or equivalent
Like the proportions of each ingredient in something (your cola/soda for instance), or ratio of paint to mix to get a specific color, or the equivalent voltage on an input to get the desired temperature (for instance) in a room, namely output. Fluid flow control and etc.... this computer and website and everything good stems from math, logic, common sense...and unicorns Society as we know it today would stop functioning without these....and I'm blabbering
Good times indeed

Algebra teaches you to think in a different way which will be useful to you all throughout your life. You may not be asked to work out those exact problems for your job or whatever you choose to do in life, but you'll definitely need the logic and critical thinking which your teachers hoped you would derive from it. Besides prepping for Calculus and difficult college courses, this is what it does.
That being said, I hated being in math class as much as anyone and I'm a history major now, but I can't deny that I got my critical thinking skills from working out those very problems in your poster.
Also, the amount of teacherhate in these comments is concerning. :C

I'm taking algebra this year and I absolutely hate it! What I've realized is that the only math you use is the math you learn up to 4th grade, the rest is just a waste of time. My mom said that the only useful advanced math she had was buisnuess math.
