Before I go off, I would like to point out that all rights to this photo belong tonow, on to the small rant.
I'm sick of people that think it's wrong to make fun of the ones with physical/mental disabilities, but at the same time, they think it's okay to endlessly smother them sympathetic bullcrap.
Obviously, I have nothing against people like that.

I work with mentally handicapped adults, some of whom have physical handicaps as well. Ultimately people with disabilities want to be treated like everyone else. This is easier said than done. But the best approach is to take their lead and respect their right to choose. In other words, don't jump in and help them without asking. Maybe they can do whatever it is by themselves.

I am a law student and dealing with some disabilities that I did not even realize I had for a long time. I basically agree with what you say. There is definitely a broad range (from barely noticeable to incapacitating). For a long time I vacillated between thinking there was nothing wrong with me and thinking that if people knew my inner thoughts, I would be institutionalized. Sometimes, I managed to think both of these things simultaneously.

Good point about hidden disabilities. If you need special consideration sometimes (say, at school with extending a deadline) you can ask, because (in Canada, at least) universities are more 'sensitive' now.

This is very true. People think that it's horrible when I make fun of my own disability, but that's my way to cope with it. Sympathy can be nice, but also annoying if it's taken over the top.

Thank you. I figured that much, but that's isn't what he said, so I wasn't sure. He said "The Following Picture in the demotivation was made by me", so I was pointing out that that was probably a typo.
