Description
Adoni took another night stroll from the herd, again, telling them he was on the guard and just making one last round before bedding down. He stood in the same spot as the time before. He thought about Pamello attacking him and Tazune earlier. He lowered his head. He didn't want his past to come after him. He just wanted to be accepted as a normal Cellerator. No one would think he was safe if they knew he had once killed and devoured flesh of innocent horses. Well, some of them were innocent but most were in fact criminals. But they didn't have to go out that way...
Adoni's red eyes came into power and the landscape was easily visible. He didn't feel the hunger anymore. He just felt hollow and slow compared to the speeds he could hit after a feed.
Tazune had been walking from behind Adoni to talk to him about Pamello. He bumped Adoni's flank with his muzzle, "Hey."
Adoni jumped, "Tazune!?" He had been so caught up in his thoughts he didn't even hear him coming!
Tazune took a step back, "Dude...what's wrong...are your eyes red?" The full moon illuminated the blood red irises.
Adoni panicked! "No! Yes!"
Tazune's ear flattened, "You're one of them! Like that stallion from earlier!"
Adoni shook his head, "No Tazune! Pamello is bad. I'm not like that!"
"What the hell are you!?" Tazune turned to run back to the herd.
Adoni sprinted after him and reared. He stopped Tazune by the shoulders. "Stop! Would you calm down for a second!?"
Tazune gritted his teeth, "I trusted you!"
"And you should still trust me!"
Tazune grumbled. He stood back up, ears still pinned.
Adoni stared hard at him, "Will you listen?"
Tazune rolled his eyes.
Adoni closed his eyes and when he opened them, they were deep blue again.
Tazune stared in wonder, "I don't get it."
Adoni felt sick and nodded. "R-remember what Pamello said?"
Tazune shook his head, "No, I thought he was just some lunatic."
Adoni snorted and looked at the ground, "FED-5."
Tazune leaned in, "Oh. That?"
Adoni nodded, "I was part of it too. Just like Pamello."
"But you're not psycho."
"FED-5," Adoni continued, "was created to eliminate criminal horses that had escaped or wronged law too many times. A lot of times they were mentally unstable horses themselves. We would...chase them. It was called the hunt. Once we captured them, we...."
Tazune took a step back. He didn't mean to, it was just instinctual.
Adoni felt hurt but he understood completely. He picked his head up again and looked Tazune in the eye, "We would kill them. And then we would consume them to get rid of the identity from this planet."
Tazune reared, "You ate them!?"
Adoni was motionless and numb, "Yes."
Tazune stuck his tongue out, "That's disgusting!"
"I know. But I don't consume any longer."
"Well, good to know!" Tazune stomped.
"Pamello seems to be enjoying it however." Adoni shook his head. "I think he's blood drunk and keeps eating."
"Why!?"
Adoni smiled, "You wouldn't know but it gives us FED-5 a huge boost of speed and stamina. Speeds and distances no normal Cellerator could ever dream of achieving."
"Well that explains it."
There was a long pause between the two.
Adoni dropped his head and turned from Tazune, "Besides the FED-5, you're the only one that knows about me."
"Oh shit, do you have to kill me?"
Adoni laughed, "No! The FED-5 disbanded years ago. I just...hoped no one would ever find out."
Tazune felt bad now. "Oh..."
Adoni looked sad.
"I-I won't tell anyone! I promise!" Tazune trotted over to Adoni, "I promise, bro,"
Adoni smiled, "It doesn't bother you?"
"Oh it does, but you're my friend. So...I don't care."
Adoni smiled more, "You're the best friend anyone could hope for." He leaned on Tazune's neck.
Tazune side stepped, "Whoa, bro. Way too mushy now. Sheesh." He smiled back.
Adoni rolled his eyes.
