Description
Had a few ideas for snazzy space weapons to doodle for Flotation Device. The first is the "Blow Dryer", a heavy plasma cannon designed by Krozrazian scavengers who were tired of never having the correct ammunition for the weapons they were salvaging. The result of their experiments was the Blow Dryer, which uses a pneumatic suction system combined with a matter recycler as its magazine to pull loose ammunition off of the user's person before transforming whatever it takes into volatile plasma projectiles. To make one, all you need is:
• A plasma reactor, near mint
• A small vehicle engine turbine, probably from a hoverbike
• A matter-recycler nozzle, found on just about any starship or station.
• Some shooty trigger bits from any gun, or just cobbled together then plugged into the turbine mechanism
• A pneumatic suction port from an industrial vacuum cleaner.
• A materiel-organic sensor so the weapon can detect its ammunition.

So how the gun works, if it's been built correctly, is it detects bits and pieces of ammunition and junk on the wielder's body, then sucks them up so the user doesn't need to reload anything, and fires the ammo out the barrel as a powerful blast of plasma energy. Put anything in – bullets, batteries, rocks, nails, family photos, whatever fits. The Blow Dryer is still a recent invention, and many junkers, Krozrazian or otherwise, continue to customize the device and try to improve upon it. There are however two cautionary problems with the Blow Dryer that haven't been fixed yet.

The first is that it will continue to suck matter off of the wielder as long as they pull the trigger. So a trigger-happy gunslinger who ran out of ammo on their belt and didn't realize it might soon discover her shirt being sucked into the weapon and shot out as an energy blast. Then her pants. Then her lingerie, and so on. In fact the "magazine" of the gun only empties when the wielder has been stripped of every viable matter on their body.

The second is about calibration. Especially with non-Krozrazians the weapon isn't originally designed for (particularly humanoid women who tend to populate the Flotation Device setting), the weapon's sensors might not be able to properly pick up the ammunition the wielder is carrying, and just latch on to whatever it can when fired. An unlucky wielder might find that the weapon has ignored every bullet and battery on her belt and ripped her clothing and underwear off instead.

Such are the perils of space. I decided to use Roxy to demonstrate the Blow Dryer in action, much to her dismay. Might use Jinx or Vickers for the next one when I get to it. But if you guys have any ideas for Flotation Device weapons you'd like me to draw up, leave a comment! Or just to tell me how handsome I am, whatever.
